  • Bulls rumor- trying to trade 16th and 26th picks to move up in NBA draft

This year's NBA draft is considered by many to a weak draft, especialy after the lottery portion. The ulls own the 16th and the 26th picks, and apparently don't think there will be anyone available who can help them beyond the top 15 picks.

Syracuse guard Jonny Flynn, Duke swingman Gerald Henderson, Wake Forest guard Jeff Teague and Wake Forest forward James Johnson are among several players who have intrigued the Bulls.

Here is another report that suggests the Bulls like Duke's Gerald Henderson, and hope to move up to get him-
The NBA draft is now less than a week away, and the Chicago Tribune has just broke news that the Bulls are looking to package their 16th and 26th overall picks to move up in the selection process...

A little surprised to see the Bulls expressing interest in guys like Teague or Flynn...obviously they have a great young point guard in Rose and a decent combo guard as back up in Hinrich. They also have John Salmons (who can play the 2 or 3) coming back along with Ben Gordon (assuming he signs). In fact, the Bulls traded away Thabo Sefalosha last year because the guard spot was so cluttered. They want to trade up, all right. But it's a PF that they want! Here's a hint: He played for Pitt and stands about 6'6" weighting about 265lbs....

That frees up a trade for Tyrus Thomas and/or a move of Joachim Noah to the 5 spot.

Money tells me that the Bulls will have to trade Henrich eventually. They will also need to get Rose and Gordon playing a bit better with each other. Right now Ben Gordon sees himself as the star and every indication is that Rose will be the man. Ben Gordon will need to step aside with the ego and become the Scottie Pippen of this team. Now on getting a legitimate 4 in this years draft, it will be difficult. The Bulls can stock pile a few guards and bundle them up for a decent one out of Phoenix though. I doubt that the Bulls can pull off a Bosh trade but Amar'e maybe!

I can't share the optimism on Gordon, SFP. I like Gordon as a sixth man, but an NBA starter at the 2? I just can't see it.

This draft is very weak. I would trade all my picks for next year's draft or try to package some people for Blake Griffin. Just my opinion.

Rumor is that the Pistons have an $11 million/year deal on the table for Gordon.

The Bulls might be moving up to get his replacement.

Rumor has it that Charlotte will take G. Henderson or J. Johnson with their first pick.

According to an update by Chris Ford on ESPN Insider a couple hours ago, the Bulls say they are no longer making calls and are planning to stand pat with both the 16th and 26th picks for now. Speculation on Chicago sports radio and ESPN alike is that they will select the best Big available (likely Blair, J. Johnson, or Hansbrough) with the 16th and have a list of guards they will look for at the 26th pick such as Toney Douglass from FSU and Nick Calathes from Florida. If none of those players are available at 26th, they may sell the pick or trade down for 2nd round picks.

This is all speculation, but it is coming from several different sources. As a Bulls fan, it all sounds good to me!

Wow if that is true! When Amari is healthy there is no one that can guard him and Barbosa is lightening quick.

I'm pissed that the Wizards gave up the number 5 pick for garbage and Rubio went in that slot. Just great! Mark my word...Rubio will be special if he plays for the right system. I could see him playing for the knicks.

I can't believe the Bulls had the opportunity to get DeJuan Blair with the 26th pick and picked Taj Gibson instead! Gibson has been a career underachiever and in most mock drafts wasn't a 1st round pick. Experts on both ESPN and Yahoo openly don't understand the pick.

They should have traded out of the 1st round if they were going to waste their pick.

DeJuan Blair did not get drafted until the 7th pick of the second round, #37 overall. Maybe there were other, unpublicized factors that caused him to drop. Some experts had him going as high as #10-15 in the first round.
