  • Bradley Team Camp Tourney This Weekend

So I was off today and I decided to take a stroll down Maplewood and Main to the team camp tourney at Markin. Seemed like about 20 teams involoved including local teams such as Peoria Notre Dame, Manual, Washington and Woodruff.

I missed the PND game but I caught Brother Tommy Les' Niles Notre Dame game vs. Manual. Very good and intense game with several highly touted players including a few DI prospects from Manual.

Marvin Jordan has offers from Niagra and Evansville? Andrew Jordan (relation?) Has been highly touted since his freshmen year. But the best player on the floor to me was a kid I never even heard of. When I inquired someone said his name is Jeff Stokes and he is going to be a soph next year for Manual. He had an unbelievable feel for the game and is a sure-fire DI prospect, who can score and defend. JL was watching the whole game and I hope he is on their radar. If we can get to him early we will be in good shape. I heard he plays for Mike Mullins ILL Wolves.

Will be attending some games tomorrow, hoping to see the Bielfeldt kid. If you don't have plans, I would suggest coming down to the beautiful Markin Center and watch some good hoops action in the AC.

there's probably more than 30 teams and they are playing in Haussler, also
the best game of the day was Notre Dame vs. Washington...really a physical battle, that PND won, mostly on Tyler Les' 3-pt shooting and Bielfeldt's interior defense and scoring.

wow, some really super games and great athletes playing this weekend....
I will have more to mention later.....

Peoria Notre Dame UNDEFEATED so far this entire SUMMER!!

they won the U of I team camp, then they won the Richwoods Shootout, now they are undefeated thus far in the Bradley Team Camp..and the showdown tourney in the camp comes tomorrow..

BTW-- I was wearing a BradleyFans T-shirt and received NUMEROUS compliments about the site....
with more than just a couple coaches mentioning they appreciate the really great info here and enjoy the discussion....I was blown away!!

          Tornado,
How did the Peoria teams do? I heard that Washington went 0-6 and was seeded last in tomorrow's tourney but I don't think that could be true.

How did Maxinshine play? What about the soph Jeff Stokes for Manual? My boy also said Manual went undefeated and will play Central tomorrow at 9.

If that is right then I am going to try to get there to see a showdown of the city (and possibly state's) two best 2012's college prospects- KiKi (Jeff Stokes) VS. Bobo (Antonio Drummond).

Maybe we can even get a PND-Manual rematch like the OT thriller from last weeks Richwoods shootout.

Bradleyfans.com members meet me out there.

the Bradley team camp wrapped up this morning....the final games are going on now...so I don't know the overall tourney winner but I suspect it'll come down to Notre Dame vs. Manual.
While watching one of the Notre Dame games, I had the chance to talk quite a bit with Jim Rochford who has done so much for youth ball and AAU ball in our region. I also met a couple of his friends who introduced themselves as Gary and Carlotta and they had a grandson playing for PND who also played AAU ball with Jim Rochford.
Turns out they are old golf buds with my in-laws and she has some ties to the same profession I am in...
They were great folks and had a real passion for the game and for following their grandson....I talked up Bradley (since I was wearing my BradleyFans shirt) and but I avoided doing any "recruiting".......
The entire camp was well run, and this morning I had a chance to talk quite a bit also to Dodie, CRob, & Cellus. Cellus had his son with him and is home for the summer but will return to Belgium to play in a couple months. Success hasn't changed Cellus, he is still one of the nicest and most polite people you'll meet!

BTW-- I did see President Glasser, although she was nowhere near the Markin Center and certainly wasn't there to view basketball.
I saw her unloading some stuff out of her trunk in front of Swords Hall...she was dressed quite casually as it was likely her day off, but she still looked presidential.
