  • Rumors on Anthony Parker

Anthony Parker is an "unrestricted free agent" and the Raptors will have to decide whether to sign, sign and trade, or let AP go...
It is currently the most likely scenario that Anthony Parker will not get an offer from Toronto and will look to sign with someone else...
He is a solid, 6-6, 2-guard with decent offensive and defensive abilities and almost certainly will get offers from other teams.

Boston and Cleveland are among the teams who could use Parker and may be interested...
One year ago today, the Boston Celtics administered a terrific beatdown to the Los Angeles Lakers, ending an unbelievable turnaround from a disastrous 24-48 season in 2006-2007...

Thomas Ondrey/The Plain DealerBrady Quinn is either No. 1 or 1A with Browns head coach Eric Mangini, but it's hard for Terry Pluto to believe that Quinn won't be the starter in September.CLEVELAND, Ohio -- It's Sunday, which means Terry...

This draft outlook blog suggests that Anthony Parker is NOT on the untouchable list and could be dealt before draft day, even if signed...
A couple of Toronto's draft possibilities are SG's and are listed as
"a great replacement for Anthony Parker"
"In BC we trust!" During the first two years of Bryan Colangelo's tenure as Toronto Raptors General Manager, this was a popular saying amongst the fans. He had turned the troubled franchise around in a single season and was enjoying messianic status...

BTW-- AP's Raptors teammate, Patrick O'Bryant may be on the move again, and if no NBA team offers, he might go overseas...
"The Raptors have five big men – Chris Bosh, Andrea Bargnani, Kris Humphries, Reggie Evans and Nathan Jawai
    – with guaranteed contracts for next season, and it's likely they will exercise an option on Patrick O'Bryant."

I think, as that last article suggests, that the Raptors will keep O'Bryant. He still comes relatively cheap, considering backup centers in the league average millions more per year than POB is contracted for next year, and this year's free agent crop and draft crop are very poor for centers.

If the Raptors don't exercise the team option, I think POB will get offers from other NBA teams, and not go overseas.

And I agree that Parker may be just as valuable to a contending team like Boston, Cleveland or Orlando as a backup as he was to Toronto as a starter. I think he'll get offers for as much money as he has been getting these last 3 seasons.

Sign Parker, trade Parker, O'Bryant, and Bosh to Chicago for Deng, Hinrich, and Tyrus Thomas.

      Darn it...Just woke up.

I understand you are dreaming but are you really sure that you would want the Bulls to pull the trigger on that trade?

Doing that means a long term max contract to Bosh or he walks after one year. Parker would probably need or get a mid level exemption, I am not sure at his age and nightly production qualify for a mid level exemption. We have seen OBryant is mostly if anything a throw in to any transaction.

Hinrich and Deng have huge contract but both are young and have very good value and TT is just now starting to turn the page and become a solid if not more then solid 4. Bulls would get the short end of the stick on that dream.

The deal would be contingent on Bosh signing a contract extension. I would never consider it if he was walking after one season.

Deng has very little value other than his age. The Bulls have ridiculously overvalued him since he got here, and now he's got an albatross of a contract. He's Milton Bradley without the attitude - I like to refer to him as 'Glass Joe'. Always hurt, doesn't produce much when healthy. Hinrich has some value, but I think he's reached his ceiling. He's also not that young anymore for a basketball player (29 in January). He's also a little expensive for a backup point guard. Tyrus Thomas has flashes brilliance, but those are often clouded by extended periods of laziness and stupidity. He's also a malcontent. Quite frankly, Bosh is better than anyone involved in the trade is ever going to be. The Bulls haven't had an all-star since MJ retired, this would be an opportunity to get one.

The most likely scenario though is the Bulls making a strong push for Bosh after this upcoming season, as he has expressed interest in playing in Chicago with Derrick Rose. Personally, I think a team with a core of Rose, Salmons, Bosh, and Noah would be among the best teams in the east for a while...assuming they get a real head coach at some point.

I guess BB I just think and see so much potential and a shell that TT has broken through this past season, I just would hate to see Chicago move him.

I believe Hinrich gives Chicago a huge advantage of a good shooting guard who can play the 1 or 2 and is not a bad defender... yes he is over priced but he is still a better backup option then many other options including Parker.

My jury is still out on Deng, two years ago he really did play well, he is long and he can score. But his value to Chicago likely has changed with the signing of Salmons. I doubt he is moveable but I think he has value in the league.

The bottom line is Chicago is in need of a low post presence, Bosh would bring that quality to a very talented and young line-up. I though would not trade TT for him and regardless you are right he must sign an extention. But if Chicago were to sign or trade for him, then that takes them out of any sweepstakes for Dwyane Wade, who I think they would love to see in the back court with Rose.

I probably agree with most of what you said about those guys (except for Deng), but unfortunately I think the Bulls and Bulls fans have been being sold the 'future' for too long. They haven't had an all-star in over a decade. They've won one playoff series since Jordan retired. They've had lottery picks every year but 2 since Jordan retired. They've failed to pull the trigger on deals that could have brought guys like Garnett, Pierce, and Gasol, and all of them now have rings. As one of the most profitable franchises in the NBA with one of the most loyal fan bases, I personally think it's time for them to start acting like a big market team and really 'go for it' instead of always selling 'the future', which never seems to come. Luck found it's way to Chicago last May when we won the Derrick Rose sweepstakes. It's time to take a chance, spend some money, and finally try to win again.

And that's my Bulls rant for the day!

The real Bosh drama probably will not be sorted out until the LaBron drama is played out after next season. There are around 5 teams that are really making considerable flexibility in their salary cap situation in anticipation. Bosh's agent would be smart to hold out until then and take an offer from the team that lost out on that sweepstakes. He'll be the 2nd most wanted player in that free agent class!

Isn't D Wade in that class? I would rather have him then Bosh... Wade and Rose would be a sick combination...

I'm a Wade fan but Bosh for most teams would get the nod and I'd say Chicago would be better served with Bosh. I'm not sure if there would be enough balls for both Rose and Wade both in the back court. Let's face it the Bulls will probably not have enough salary cap space to get either so they would have to package up some players. Also I do not see D-Wade leaving Miami. He seems like a very loyal player and loves South Florida.

                      Agree, SFP.

I don't think D-Wade and Rose fit very well together just because D-Wade creates a lot of his points bringing the ball up the court. With Rose you could really benefit from a good inside player and Bosh would be great with the Bulls. Also, BradleyBrave, that trade you suggested would be fantastic for the Bulls. Does the money add up? LOL, surely it is dreaming, but this Bears offseason has taught me that I can dream.

I checked-- I think you'd need to pay Parker like $7M to make it work. For one year, that wouldn't be too bad.
