wonder how BU can get some of this $$

  • #2
I don't know why they are trying so hard to ramrod women's basketball down people's throats and make people care. I enjoy watching BU and want them to do well, but overall women's basketball is not an entertaining sport and only appeals to a very small number of people. The WNBA is a joke, and a financial loser. Why the NBA keeps funding it and trying to make people care I will never know.

All that being said though, if the NCAA wants to give us some money from their limitless bank account, that's fine with me.

I think it would be a no-brainer for BU to go after some of this money next year.

While I understand not a lot of people care about women's basketball, BU should be able to build a winner in women's hoops. This can help promote that.

Also, Dean Oliver (who is basically basketball's equivalent to Bill James, and NOT the former Iowa hoopster) uses the WNBA as his first point of reference because it offers the only truly complete sample of basketball statistics.

I agree. With this year's success and a brand new arena on the way, there's little excuse for BU to not have an upper-echelon women's program in the MVC.

It appears the new facilities are already benefitting the women's program with better recruiting. I don't ever recall the women getting commitments from quality players this early. Paula Bucher last 2 years have seen the best recruiting classes she has had, and in the past 2 weeks, Paula has gotten commitments from 2 of the top juniors in the state of Wisconsin.
