Authorities say former Illinois basketball standout and 2001 Big Ten Player of the Year Frank Williams has been arrested on drug charges.

This is a sad strory of a Peoria legend falling down hard. I just thought posters local to Peoria would like to know. To my knowledge I didn't break any posting rules. If I did.....please enlighten me. Why was it deleted?
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

This story was already posted here about 6 hours earlier. I didn't think it needed to be posted all over again, especially in a flaming manner, as if Frank Williams has something to do with Bradley. He doesn't, and never did. Maybe you could post it on the Illinois board.

Sounds good. I didn't know it was already posted. I didn't flame. I know it wasn't Bradley-related, but neither are any of the many crime stories on the hoops forum here but that doesn't stop them from being posted. Once again......I didn't mean to appear flammatory.

DC, guys like you and I will never know the difficulties that accompany growing up as some of those kids do...and how it continues to impact their lives decades later...
In some sense they are victims of a difficult youth and even at times a really terrible upbringing but.......
They are all smart enough to know right and wrong and also smart enough to know the price they are going to pay if and when they get caught.
Bradley has had a share of similar problems with Ray Brown and others....
we are not immune from those issues, and I stand solid in my opinion that it should be disciplined HARD and consistently...or it will rear it's head again and again...

I believe it's called "Basketball Fan talk". That pretty much leaves it wide open as I'm sure we're all basketball fans here.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

DannyC - I missed what you posted and got deleted.

I just want to answer to the "double-standard" you are referring to. IMO.

This is a fan site for Bradley Fans. And we all have some schadenfreude in us. So when there are "crime stories" on other teams - it's "all good" to post it. This is two-fold: 1- we enjoy their pain as schadenfreudes; 2- the local media in Peoria has a field day with the story when it is Bradley with troubles.

But since it isn't Bradley, the local media doesn't think they need to let their readers know of any/many other "crime stories" existing at (maybe/almost) every school.

That is why I can't stand the local media so much - they swarm to the negative stories at Bradley and then never educate the readers that it goes on elsewhere and usually more often and worse than at Bradley.

So your local numb-nuts who only get their info from the local rag thinks it is gospel... and that there is where the disservice and damage is done by the local rag.

So BradleyFans.com educates people of a lot of the crap that goes on elsewhere (while not allowing the extreme criticism of Bradley's "crap" without being heavily monitored).

I hope that helps... not just for you, but for others.

And that is IMO. Other moderators and administrators might have different things to say or more to add.

DC, I didn't see your original post, but unless you mentioned Bradley, I wouldn't know why it would be considered flammatory. Some posters take great delight in bringing up crime stories, as you call them. A Peoria kid shouldn't be an exception.
Did see the report on Peoria TV and in the Urnal Star, so I don't think they dropped the ball this time.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

Bloomington kids have the same kinds of problems, but Bradley fans don't go to the ISU board to post about it...
