Also please note I said he asked for his release.
That does not mean the University has given it to him.

Are you hinting that you think there was tampering with one of your signed recruits?

A little closure on Barham. I did enroll at Memphis. And once school started SIUC gave him his release.

Just a little more followup on Drew Barham...the SIU recruit who seems like he may have gotten a call from Memphis then decommitted from SIU and went there........

well...some thought he should have redshirted, but he didn't and he actually got to play quite a bit, since a lot of the kids either at Memphis or headed to Memphis changed their minds when Calipari left........
So, he got in 22 games, including 8 conference games..........many of the games he really didn't play a lot..but here are his numbers..

            22 games, 13-47, 27.7% from the field, 10-31, 32.3% from 3pt range, and 56% on FT's...
his overall averages.....1.9 ppg (9th best on team), 0.5 rpg, and only 4 assists in 22 games....

Anyway you look at it...you'd have to conclude one or two things...
--that maybe he shoulda redshirted or stayed at SIU...and that so far nothing about his numbers hints that this was all that great of a loss for SIU - although it confirms what a lot of people have been saying about Chris Lowery and his recruiting prowess........

Drew Barham sure seems to have trouble making up his mind...
he first committed to SIU, then reneged and went to Memphis -- he was even willing to walk on there without a scholarship rather than play for SIU...
but after pretty much sitting on the bench there at Memphis for three years now he decided he wants to go somewhere else and get more playing time...
He has scored fewer than 100 points in his college career - the majority on 3-pointers.
He's supposed to be a dead-eye 3-pt shooter - but his lifetime shooting accuracy is only 27.6%

so he's transferring to Gonzaga....so you have to wonder how badly Gonzaga needs a one-tool player whose only tool, hitting 3-pointers, isn't very sharp.
