  • Bradleys New AD

VHB is a wonderful lady and a real asset to Bradley and our Athletic Program.
While she will do a very good job as the interim AD, her background and experience may be weak in a few important areas. What is her coaching experience? What is her basketball background? Does she have really good networking contacts with Divn. I BB coaches and ADs for scheduling, Etc? Can she counsel with, manage, and direct coaches when needed? Does she have proven fund raising capability?
All of these are important for the new AD at BU to be effective and successful and to move our programs forward in the long haul.

I think VHB would do a great job as AD.
Most people who have worked as associate ADs in D1 will probably have good management skills for an athletic department, but may have limited "networking contacts with Divn. I BB coaches and ADs for scheduling".

I am sure Bradley will get a large number of qualified applicants for the position. I am anxious to see who they are and what their backgrounds are.

Has there been a timeframe set for a search/hire of a new AD?

No, nothing has been announced. I suspect there have been some contacts and plans made that have not been made public yet.

If VHB is who she wants AND is qualified why go through the sham of interviewing. You KNOW there are going to be more qualified candidates so you either want her or you don't.

I agree Why the hell waste peoples time, give false hopes and spend money to go through the motions. Queen Prez is half there in her plan (KK gone) and if the other half is to give the position to VHB, then who in the hells going to stop it!

VHB has done a lot of great things at BU, unfortunately I do not believe she is totally qualified to be the AD at this point, there should be a national search and Bradley should hire the best candidate available because it is a very important position.

I am surprised that there's been no word on any possible candidates. You would think the intrepid reporters from the PJS would have found out something by now. I'm curious to see if someone is hired on June 1 becuase KK's contract officially runs out on May 31 and BU might not be able to officially name its AD until June 1. It's no shocker to anyone on this forum that I believe Virnette would be an outstanding choice for AD. I've talked to people in both the Chiefs Club and the BU athletic department who believe that too. KK wouldn't have had her be his right hand person if she wasn't very good.

This mornings PJStar said that Bradley hasn't even started any formal process to fill the AD position. They haven't posted an ad for it yet.

could it be the position isn't going to be advertised, that in effect it may already "be filled" as the head baseball coaching spot was despite an apparent "search?

                        AD Search

Guys, I share your concern regarding no apparent effort on the part of the Pres. to advertise for or otherwise try to locate suitable candidates for the AD job. It is imperative that BU find the right, qualified person for this job. I have no doubt that many very good people would apply if it is truly "open" but I am very concerned now that the Pres. may be in her own little world on this one which could raise the risk of BU not having a really good and highly qualified AD. At the very least, she needs to get this handled ASAP since to linger can only result in rumors & speculation, and could ultimately harm BU.

it's not like this surprises everyone...
the only info comes from the public relations person...
"There has been no movement,??? said BU spokesman Shelley Epstein.
???We haven??™t posted an ad (for the position) yet and there has been no timetable set.
It??™s an important position that Virnette (House-Browning) is filling ably (as interim AD)."

It might be because most ADs and assistant ADs have contracts that run until the end of June or July. If they are still under contract with their current employer, some may not be able to contact or apply for an opening now. Perhaps to get more qualified candidates apply, Bradley will wait and advertise the position later in June or July.

Don't forget that the spokesman for BU is a retiree from the PJS. So don't believe everything that comes out of his mouth.
What part of illegal don't you understand?
