  • The First Fallout from the Tim Floyd/OJ Mayo Scandal

It was just a matter of time, and now it's happening...
    one of USC's top commits.....a TOP 50, 4-Star SG in USC's Class of 2009
has yanked his verbal commitment and wants out.
He doesn't want any part of USC and the possibilities of serious penalties...

" ...with the allegations made about Tim Floyd in a recent article, the
6-foot-5 small forward decided to rethink his options.

???It??™s official,??? Lynbert ???Cheese??? Johnson, the father of Noel Johnson, told
Scout.com referring to his son being released from his Letter of Intent with USC.
???Anytime you have a kid that is starting his freshman year you want him to
go into a calmer setting, rather than having a cloud over your head,???
    Johnson said.

???That was his number one choice because he liked the school, coach [Tim]
Floyd and coach [Bob] Cantu,??? Johnson said. ???But facts remain that you
    can??™t move that cloud"

Not a good time to be a USC fan...

"... the Trojans have lost their top three scorers, top three recruits and been
accused of major violations in the past six weeks.
By any measuring stick, that's a bad stretch."

another great quote in this emerging story....

Football coach Pete Carroll, speaking Wednesday night to USC boosters, said this in response to a question about USC....

            "Carroll quickly answered, saying
"that when he first got to USC his goal was to build a program where, everyone was coming after us.""

"Be careful what you wish for," Carroll added, also saying that scrutiny was the price "for being on top."

the coverage also notes that also in attendance was basketball coach Floyd but
he "did not respond to the question."

---just a reminder for those paying attention...
Reggie Bush played football at USC in 2003, 2004, 2005, and it is well recognized that the massive and flagrant cash and
freebies given to him began at least as far back as his 2nd year there when he was living in a luxury apartment paid for by boosters and agents...also his family moved into a really nice home (3/4 million dollar home) in San Diego at the same time.
(and there's undeniable proof that the family never paid for living in the luixury home)
Reggie Bush's parents did not pay $54,000 in rent during the year they lived in a home owned by a sports marketing agency investor, the owner of the house told two newspapers.

In other words...the violations were first talked about way back in 2004....and there has still be virtually NO movement by the NCAA...
only a mihnimal lip service saying they might be interested in all this....
But quite possibly, all the publicity from the OJ Mayo cheating scandal might just force the NCAA's hand after more than 5 years!

You gotta read this column revealing all the cheating that went on all the way back in 2004-2005, and as soon as the YahooSports story broke, they bolted from the luxury house and moved out.
USC, the Pac-10, and the NCAA all said they were looking into it..but that was more than 3 years ago as well...and still nothing!!!
The Heisman winner's family moved out of a house amid USC's request for a Pac-10 investigation.

rumor is that he was unhappy when he heard that OJ Mayo got more than he got for committing...
