I was wondering what our team has in store for their summer workouts. Yesterday I saw Blake Griffen and his brother at my local Y working out with a trainer that worked him out last summer. The trainer here in SF works with only NBA and highly selective college players. Blake Griffen has said that his summer workouts last year were the difference. He will be the #1 selected player in the draft! BTW...The guy is HUGE!

Final exams at BU ended Wednesday, and graduation is tomorrow, Saturday, May 16.
The first summer session begins Monday, June 8 and runs through Friday, July 10.
The second summer session runs from Monday, July 13 through Friday, August 14.
Most recruits and returning players arrive on campus for the first summer session to begin summer workouts, and some arrive for the second session. Workouts usually consist of weight lifting and conditioning sessions and a lot of player scrimmages.
There cannot be any organized practices and coaches cannot be in attendance at the srcimmages.

Can't agree with the last sentence - "...organized practices...scrimmages" Wow, how do they all show up at the same time!
I would do things differently. But I'd probably have an RPI of 300 but maybe not. I just hope we keep the wear and tear down this summer. HS kids have to play all summer to get what they want - our men already have it. Take it easy this summer, it only takes 2-4 weeks to get in shape - and use our new pool this summer.

Most injuries in the off season do not stem from conditioning and scrimmaging but from some other bonehead activity like riding a scooter. Injuries happen but these are young men and should really go at it to prepare for the season. They will have plenty of downtime to rest and such not.
Blake Griffen worked his tail off last off season and was a better player for it. What I do hope that our staff is incorporating in their workouts is a lot of stretching. Flexibility helps a ton to prevent injuries."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

I agree SFP.
In my opinion strength training and skill development should be the primary focus during off season. Shooting 100's of jumpers a day, working on ball handling etc will not wear down a body. I do not believe you can over do skill workouts. Scrimmaging has its place too.... but sometimes bad habits do develop at informal scrimmages.

Use the new pool this summer, that's why it is there
Which player can hit the longest drive, maybe Singh. Who can swim the fastest and if you don't know how to swim now is the time to learn.
Last sentence in third paragraph and keep reading.

The primary goal of the offseason, moreso this year probably than in year's past, is getting through the offseason HEALTHY. We'll be lifting weights and shooting jumpers just like every other team in America is doing. We just need to make sure we get through it with our health. We weren't able to make it through the summer healthy last year, and it arguably cost this team 4-5 more wins and perhaps a shot at a league title.Onward and Upward!
