Trey became a father this week and is on pace to graduate this May. It sounds like his intentions are to focus on being a father and move on following this season. He will not be with the team this weekend.
ISU was 3 over before this latest news came out. This puts the Birds at 2 over, but there are interesting circumstances with each spot. Simpson is signed, but qualifying is still up in the air. Beane is signed, but his father's position may lead to some creative options. Also, according to ISU's beat writer, Bryant Allen will be given a basketball scholarship next season.
45...this is the first I've heard about Simpson not qualifying. Is this a legit risk? Would stink for the Redbirds.
Sheesh, how bad a student must you be to not get admitted to ISU?
Does this change in his plans have anything to do with the fact he is no longer in Jank's playing rotation, is averaging only 1 ppg, and is only shooting 19% from three?
I honestly have no idea what the timeline looked like for this situation. Maybe his reduced role was a byproduct of the coaching staff and Trey knowing he wouldn't be returning next season because of his new responsibility.
I get the impression that this is the end of the road for his college career. It's commendable that he was able to complete his degree in fours years after transferring. We all know what a mess that can be.
You also have to look at his age. Next year would be his 6th year out of high school. At some point, and I agree not playing may help this decision, it is just time to move on.
I wish Trey nothing but the best. He has faced many struggles in his life, but always seemed to be a great teammate and student. He always played the game the right way and represented the university well.

When he signed, I heard there was no chance.
As time passed, I heard there was a possibility.
Now I'm hearing that he is on pace to be a Redbird.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see!
If he ends up not qualifying I hope Lincoln can snatch him up!
