I find it rather funny that redbird fans want nothing to do with the Dunsons because of their seemingly inability to stick with one school, but they will welcome Trey Blue with open arms.

Trey Blue will be in his 5th school in the last 6 years at ISU:
          2004-2005 Chicago Julian HS
          2005-2006 Thornwood HS
          2006-2007 Thornwood HS
          2007-2008 Brewster Prep
          2008-2009 Fordham
          2009-2010 ISU

I have talked to someone who saw him play in high school, and Blue can definitely be a good player in the MVC. I think this could work out well for ISU. He is similar to Dyricus Simms-Edwards, but maybe a bit more of a 2-guard than a combo guard. He is not a great shooter (he shot only 31% from three last season at Fordham) but he can score. The main problem I see is that despite all the guards they've recruited, they don't really have a pure point guard for the next couple years, and outside of Dinma, who has 1 more year, their inside players are unproven and will lack experience.

similar to Brandon Dunson, and I think he was at Thornwood before going to Julian
then went back to Thornwood, so in effect he's been at 6 schools in 5+ years

Have your read into Trey's situation at all? While there may be some similarities to the Dunson's, he experience a great personal tragety while at Fordham and wanted to move closer to home... take a minute and read into what happened and you might realize what you just posted was really uncalled for...

Here are some stats for Trey Blue in his freshman season at Fordham

First...Fordham played the 283rd strongest non-conference schedule and the 115th ranked overall schedule.
They were 3-25 and the only 3 yeams they beat were pretty pathetic teams (Lafayette, New Hampshire, St. Bonaventure).
Fordham's team defense was pretty bad.........they were the WORST in the A-10 - giving up 76.6 ppg (2 ppg worse than the 15th worse team and actually one of the worst defenses in the NCAA D-I..ranking 315th).

and had an average -15.5 scoring margin, the worst team FG% (.379), and
the worst fg% allowed in the A-10 at 48.5% allowed (which ranks 323rd in D-I..one of the worst).

Blue averaged 19.6 minutes per game (9th on the team), and 8.2 ppg (5th), 2 rpg (9th), 1 assist per game (6th on the team) and hit 32.3% (10th) of shots overall, and 31.4% of 3-pt shots.(3rd best)
His assist to turnover ratio was 0.8 (6th)...

his numbers dropped way off in conference play (obviously the tougher part of their season)...
and in the 8 conference games he played (started one), he shot only 29.2% from the field and 25.0% from 3-point range.(13-52)
Blue's nearly seven three-point attempts per game in conference play by FAR led the team.....nearly 20% higher than anyone else, even the guys whose shooting pct was 40%.

I know that's pretty tough to grasp isn't it? What does it matter anyway? Dunson appears happy at his current place and it appears mutual. Maybe Blue and ISU will also have a happy ending together. Dunson was immature and perhaps so was Blue. Age and life experience helps that.
And what does this have to do with the younger Dunson? I just thought it was funny that isu fans are so quick to dismiss anyone named Dunson, yet welcome someone that has been to five different schools in the last five years, and one of those schools twice.

shaun..it's Transfer U., so they can pick the transfers they want...
Dunson committed to ISU right out of high school....so they didn't really want him, they prefer transfers...

                      Note their roster...
Coates, B. Hill, Holloway, Odzic, Oguchi, Phillips, Sampay, Shipley, Thornton, plus the new guys, Mishler, Johnson, A. Hill, Carmichael, Lewis, Blue.........all of them have changed high schools or colleges at least one time,....they are all kids who transferred.
I'm not saying they haven't done OK with their transfers.....they've actually don't surprisingly well, and maybe now they are passing the torch on being Transfer U. to Chris Lowery and SIU, who are having massive player departure and trying to fill the gaps with transfers like tony Freeman and the new jucos they're getting.
BU's roster has a couple juco kids, but way fewer kids who hopped around transferring in HS and college, and all four of our newcomers (Prosser, Knezevic, Simms-Edwards, Eastman) are guys coming from 4-years of HS and never transferred. Even our recent losses like Crouch and Ruffin, were not kids prone to transfer, but their recent grads were Slack, Dom Johnson, Boo, Moor, etc....all were transfers.

A technicality, but DSE transferred from Peoria Central to Washington.

as noted...DSE's family moved and he had to change schools....all the others on the list hopped from one school to another without the obligation due to a family move. You can nit pick, but the title of Transfer U. surely belongs in B-N.
Has there ever been a time when BU's roster included a dozen newbies??

Trey became a father this week and is on pace to graduate this May. It sounds like his intentions are to focus on being a father and move on following this season. He will not be with the team this weekend.

ISU was 3 over before this latest news came out. This puts the Birds at 2 over, but there are interesting circumstances with each spot. Simpson is signed, but qualifying is still up in the air. Beane is signed, but his father's position may lead to some creative options. Also, according to ISU's beat writer, Bryant Allen will be given a basketball scholarship next season.

Does this change in his plans have anything to do with the fact he is no longer in Jank's playing rotation, is averaging only 1 ppg, and is only shooting 19% from three?

he was Trey Blue's high school teammate and instead chose to walk on at Oakland.
                                ....
Oh - what could have been......
Yup -- I do recall reading that Thornton HS's Reggie Hamilton was wanting to come to ISU but the lack of a scholarship available...may have caused Hamilton to go elsewhere.....

Too bad - really big miss, as now Reggie Hamilton is one of the best players in the entire nation.
He's averaging 25.5 points per game and has passed Doug McDermott & everyone else and now leads D-I in scoring...
He's also averaging 5 apg, 41% shooting from 3-pt, 88% on FTs, and is a fine defender getting 2 steals..
