  • BU women's assistant gets head coaching job

Marne Fauser, Bradley women's Director of Basketball Operations has been named head coach of the women's team at University of Illinois-Springfield.
Marne Fauser is a Peoria-area native. She was a star athlete at Bartonville Limestone High School, then was a two-time letter winner at Illinois Central College and helped them to two regional titles and a fourth-place finish in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II women’s basketball tournament during the 1995-96 season.
She then transferred to Truman State for the 1996-97 season and earned honorable mention all-conference recognition after averaging 7.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
Her senior year, Fauser averaged 7.7 points and 4.8 rebounds while ranking second on the team in steals with 41. She was a two-time team co-captain and won the squad’s leadership award following her senior year.
She graduated from Truman State in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

Well, congrats and good luck to her.

But man... sounds like their was some crap going on at UIS that had a couple coaches resign. Surprised the local press can't demand information on the story from their local school. And a State Institution.

I guess only the local Peoria paper demands to know everything about the local Private Institution.

That point struck me, too. All the article says is:
Fauser replaces Roy Gilmore, who resigned as women’s basketball coach and assistant softball coach on March 20 along with Joe Fisher, the Prairie Stars’ head softball and volleyball coach. The university has released no details about the reasons for the resignations.

So the head coaches of women's basketball, softball, and volleyball resign suddenly and unexpectedly together back on March 20, and this is all that gets reported?

Here is a little bit more from an earlier article--

It appears there was some sort of "scandal" and 2 resignations occurred after the softball team was on a trip to Florida where inappropriate behavior and alcohol were involved. Still there are few details. Apparently, the golf coach's resignation relates to separate issues earlier.

they will obviously move up on the ranking of party schools
whenever someone says 'alcohol did not play a "huge role"', yet
a bunch of people got canned from their jobs, then I remain a bit of a skeptic...
