Kruger at leaset for the first 4 years

Kevin Kruger played his first 3 years (2003-04 to 2005-06) at Arizona State. At the time he went to Arizona State in 2003, his father was coaching in the NBA. Lon Kruger didn't leave the NBA and take the UNLV job until 2004. And Kevin Kruger transferred to UNLV to play for his father in July, 2006.

My point was that it is actualy quite rare that a kid who has the capability of playing Division I would choose to play for someone other than his father if he had a chance. I am sure there is a case where it's happened, but I can't think of any. But there are many instances where kids play for their fathers.

Agreed, Bruce Pearl, Kelvin Sampson, Lon Kruger, Bobby Knight, Tubby Smith, Eddie Sutton, Dick Bennett, Todd Lickliter, John Beilein, Ray Meyer, John Thompson.... all had kids who played for them.

Didn't Thompson Jr. play at Princeton? I thought he played and coached there but I could be wrong.

John Thompson's son, Ronny Thompson, played for his dad at Georgetown 1989-1992.
John's other son, John Thompson III, did play at Princeton. Word is that he wanted to go to Princeton
since that's where his girlfriend (& future wife) was going. Looks like he made the right decision, there.

I never declared myself an expert. of course these are my opinions. This is an opinion forum. I dont mean to be rude, but please dont be silly with your comments claiming that i think my opinions are facts. Any time you read something in this forum it is an opinion unless it is a statistic. And i never listed a statistic so obviously they are my opinions. i shouldnt have to say imo every single time. everybody knows they are my opinions

so please dont start petty fights about nothing when everything people say are opinions and i never claimed i was only one correct. nobody else has complained about this and I write the same as others write.

also i never hated on any of players im just trying to evaluate how i see it. I think any level of college is excellent as long as these kids get an education and dont put all their hopes in basketball because they are not professional talent. I think kids these days act like D2 or D3 are not good level of play, but any college level is so good. Kids shouldnt think they have to go D1 to look cool when they will ride the bench when they could play at a lower level.

heybballfans, Stating that someone does not have it and that the only way they will make D-1 basketball is because of their father speaks volume. You do not write the same as others because most guys here point out the value that that TL could bring to the team regardless of perceived weakness. You are in attack mode from the get go and IMO I would bet you have something against JL and probably BU basketball. Tell me I am wrong, that you are an ardent BU fan and this comment below from you earlier is not an attack. One dig after another! There are other here that attack our program a bit but they do not hide behind their anonymous name they state that they are a real fan of someone else. I can respect that and their opinion.

yea it is early to talk about it, but you can usually tell when a plyer can or cannot, and in their case cannot

But, hopefully both have fun and learn a lot playing for dads (when les plays for his dad)

also hopefully ty les stays healthy i hear he is injury prone

Guys---Al this discussion about Tyler Les is premature speculation. Consider this:
1. Tyler has another year of high school playing on a strong team in a competitive conference and is receiving great coaching from Eddie Matthews and his Dad. By the end of his Sr. year, he could be outstanding.
2. Tylers improvement over the past couple of years has been remarkable and may very well continue.
3. He obviously has great basketball sense and is a good kid and student.
4. He is a very good 3 pt. shooter as proven by the State Tourn. 3 pt. contest and his performance this past year.
5. I saw him in Flash's AAU thing a couple of weeks ago and he was very impressive.
6. I suggest we trust JLs judgement on this. If I were a coach, I'd certainly want my Son playing for me, if he wanted to.

Good logic, wizard. I wouldn't be surprised if Coach Les has to fend off interest and offers from other D1's by next year.

I agree. If he can help the team out and we dont have to use a scholarship for him, why wouldn't BU go after him?!? Even IF he is no better than a walk on, he provides a practice body and is still not taking up a scholarship. From what I have seen for myself and heard from other coaches, he is a good player and is getting better year by year, so I don't think we would be waisting anything by getting him.

I do think some kids might think it's weird to go through their college years right under the nose of their dad though. I think the hardest part of getting him here will be to convince him he'll have a "normal" college experience even while playing with his dad.

I love BU basketball, what are you talking about? I have been a bradley fan a long time. This is an opinion forum, and I am stating I do not think they will play d1. i have nothing against JL, sure I liked molinari better, but Les did do well in the ncaa tourny season and stuff, so more power to les. saying someone will play d1 because of his dad is not a dig. I am not the only one who thinks this. Do you really think Billy molinari would be recruited by wiu if his dad wasnt there? (he wasnt recruited by any other d1, only smaller schools). its just the way it is, i i have no complaints about it. Life and getting jobs and positions is all about connections. I am not digging at les or anybody. he is a solid hs bball player and i wish him all the best. but like i said, i just think he is not d1 material really. sorry if u are a friend or relative of les which it seems you are (u will deny it though hehe), but this is an opinion forum, and i just state what i think. not as fact, but what i think. if this forum is just to boost peoples egos and talk players up and suck up to people, maybe im in the wrong forum.

and and just to make it clear, tyler les seems like a great kid and i wish him all the best, who knows he may prove me wrong! hopefully he does. but i see him going BU or a smaller school. people down play going d1 as its esaier than it is. edmonds from nd years ago couldnt make d1, and he was a great player.

We can 100% agree on this! The rest is what it is I guess. I'm not a JL relative but I am very protective of BU basketball. I also like Mo but I believe the overall program is bigger then any one individual and I'm putting my confidance with who we have now.
