We have great pizza places, and great Mexican here in Tulsa.

As far as Peoria goes, Agatucci's beats them all in my opinion. Monical's is another one of my family's favorites. Years and years ago, I used to love Pantera's pizza, but they've been gone probably 20-25 years at least now, so most of you probably don't remember them at all.

Here in Tulsa, the top 3 are Savastano's, Hideaway, and Bellacino's in that order.

Another poll on this subject should be NY or Chicago style? My GF and I when we go for pizza argue which style. She loves NY style and I lean towards Chicago deep dish. I'll eat anything really so she usually gets her way. Here in SF the pizza quality has gotten a ton better the last decade with a bunch of decent restaurants serving wood burning oven pizza, Neapolitan style.

        Best Pizza

The best Pizza in Peoria was when Lou Malnatti's was located at Sheridan Village. The place was always busy, but they closed due to poor management. The next best Pizza was when Uno's was located in the Mark Twain Hotel. We have no real good pan pizza in Peoria. Old Chicago makes a fair pan pizza, but it is pathetic compared to Malnatti's or Gino's East in Chicago. Agatucci's Pizza taste like tomato sauce on cardboard. I have never understood the passion some people have for their pizza. We used to be able to get a good wood fired pizza at Vonchen's Old Place at Junction City. Probably the best local (thin crust) pizza we have in Peoria is Monicals.

Best pizza I had growing up was from the old Pilot Club in Bartonville. I loved it when my parents made the trip to get it. I think they got bought out by the airport and closed. I am pretty sure Davis Brothers bought the recipe but ended up altering it. Now I am a big fan of the mega meat pizza from Double A's and the barbecue chicken pizza from Monicals.

Dave's Pizza in Bartonville is my favorite, but the Warehouse in Hanna City is a close second. Warehouse has great sandwiches as well, and is underappreciated in my opinion.

Warehouse just might have the best tenderloins in the area.

I just started a new job so i'm getting caught up on all the messages from the last 2 months lol. Anyways, this isn't Peoria pizza but if anyone goes to an event at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont and you don't want to wait in long lines at Gino's East or Giordanos, then head over to the Rosati's by the Chilis and strip mall near the Arena. I figured it would be just some cheap 2nd rate pizza but it was pretty much as good as Giordanos for the deep dish Chicago style. Went there this past Saturday evening, wait at Giordanos was 45 minutes, wait at Rosati's was pizza cooking time and about $7 cheaper for just as delicious pizza lol.

I used to love Agatucci's when I was a kid but moved to New York City right out of college and realized I'd probably never had great pizza before. NYC pizza - and the food in general - will spoil the heck out of you.

Actually, if you are thinking about road tripping to one non-con game next year, I would highly recommend going to see the Braves vs Drexel in Philly. My wife's from Philly and the food is killer there too. Most of the top restaurants are BYOs where you bring your own alcohol and save a boatload on the tab....probably my favorite city (and cheaper than NY and Chicago)...

Time to wrap this pizza thread up after a whole year of getting responses....
...recently we had some friends & company in from out of town and went to Davis Brothers in East Peoria. I have to say, their restauant looked like the floors hadn't been swept and the tables hadn't been wiped in months. So I am sad to say that I am never going there again...the people who now own it have bought the name and rights from the original Davis Brothers family, and obviously have NO DESIRE to maintain a decent place or the reputation that was built over decdaes...and have really let the place slide....it was hideous and there's smiply no excuse for -- even if it was in Creve Coeur it would still rank as horrible!!

But --- I guess if we have to draw any conclusions from the nearly 90 comments and almost 70 votes this thread has drawn........here's what I get from everyone's comments..

--that Agatucci's and Monical's are about even as far as favorite pizza and favorite taste...according to the votes...
this is interesting considering Agatucci's has been a local eatery with more than 50 years of tradition and loyal customers,
while Monical's is a chain of pizzerias in Illinois and surrounding states that's fairly recent.

--that as far as Firehouse Pizza - you either love it or you hate it...and that unless you know to ask for their (recently added) traditional sauce,
you will automatically be given their "original" sauce that's extremely syrupy-sweet that some people obviously don't like.

--and that many smaller and lesser known establishments also serve fine pizza...
names like Tyroni's, Mickey's, Hammer's, Hoops, Brick Oven, Granite City, Avanti's Bellacinos, Oliver's, Double A's, and others all sound like great pizza....

Recently I had pizza at the Fieldhouse and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I ate a small pizza for lunch and I liked it so much that I ordered a large pizza that I then brought back for a friend of mine to enjoy.

I've been an Aggies man for almost 50 years. When eating in B'ville I agree with you Daves is by far the best pizza. When visiting my daughter in the Nortwest suberbs I gotta go with Bills Pub over Lou Malnattis. I like Lous but is doesn't compare with Bills Pub. Has anyone else had Bills just curious.
