...consider a r/s for DSE or JE. I DREAD asking this becuase of where some might take it but its a legit thought IMO. Now that both are signed I think its "safe" to discuss it NOT that discussing it before they committed was going to influence them in any way.

Loaded backcourt thats going to leave someone short some minutes and could create a DN situation allthough I think these guys (JE/DSE) can both play 1 or 2 so they won't be upset that pg isn't available like DN was.

I like how Coach Brown pointed out that JL was honest and upfront with DSE and didn't recruit over DN obviouslt having DSE best interest in mind....actually was refreshing to hear with all the horor stories we usually get in recruiting.

Its also obvious DSE REALLY wants to or wanted to be a Brave holding on until BU went after him late.

the kids and the coaches will work this out, but given how slim we'd have been without Eddren and Darian, I suspect they'll both stay and try to play.

I would not just in case we really do need them.

If they're able to play (new term creation here) "Standard Freshman Minutes"... 2-4 minutes in a game, then I see no reason. If they're not ready for that much work then a R/S isn't a bad idea. If they're good enough to contribute a bit though, I see no reason to do it.

We will need Eastman's outside shot next year. He has really worked on his strength over the last year (recognizing it was a weakness) and trust he will continue to over the summer. So no way for Eastman.

DSE only if he has any lingering negative effects from his previous injury (which I doubt). Remember, there is still no guarantee that Warren will be ready or won't be re-injured. I hate to be a pessimist or sound negative but foot injuries can be very tricky and easily re-injured.

I think this is spot-on. Eastman could be a zone-buster, and God knows we need one.

They will more then likely both play next year. JE, from what I have heard and read will be a back up to AW for the next 2 years and then take over that spot. He is a lot like DSE as they both had to play through some injuries that kept them from getting recruited by BCS schools as much. If it is true what I have read and heard then JE will be another JC type player who is not the most athletic but realy understands the game of BB and makes up for lack of athletic ability w/ BB knowledge which in return makes for a very good BB player. Can also shoot the 3 a lot like JC could-he just doesn't have to come in and play major minutes right away.
This is actually the main difference between this year and 5 years ago. We now have enough players that we can fit freshman into the system w/o expecting them to be the answer to saving the team. That is what JL has brought to the program & something we have not had for a number of years.

Playing time has a way of working its self out.

I think you redshirt a player either because of injury or that he is not physically prepared to play at the D1 level. Les and staff will know more in the fall. Our program seems to find injury pretty often so who knows.

I would say neither are a candidate, but come October/Nov, then we shall see.

With Bradleys propensity for injuries, I believe we need EVERY body available. No to red shirts!

By the way, on paper, great recruiting classes this year and next.
NO MORE APOLOGISTS. Let's get "it" done, Jimmy!

DSE fills a hole in this year's frosh class, in that he's the only true PG.

A redshirt would've made sense for Norris this year because he would've had his senior year to run the show. The same might apply for DSE.

But looking ahead, if Tyler Les walks on here next year, and DSE is redshirted this year, he's likely starting out as the 4th PG option, and minutes will be hard to come by. At least this year, he can be thrown into the fire and get some experience.

What I worry about is our small lineup and playing "D". I expect DD, CR, SM, AW, and EM to all get a min. of 25 minutes per game. If JE and DSE both get 5 minutes per game thats 135 minutes per game from our guards. I'm afraid we would have to score 90+ point per game in that sceniro if we expect to win. On the other hand if we redshirt we only have 11 bodies...

Really? I googled "Dyricus" and "true point guard" and of the single digit hits you come up with, none are legit assessments of Dyricus as a "true point guard".
A couple come from observers who write on message boards or blogs..but I am not sure they really know DSE all that well.
Can you cite anyone else who thinks he is a true PG?

I know he has played PG and might want to in college, but he's taking the roster spot left by Norris who left because he wasn't going to find sufficient opportunity to play the point, and I suspect that'll be true for DSE as well.
You can find way more assessments of DSE as a combo guard and I suspect that's how he'll be used at BU...kinda like Dodie or Will Franklin.

also BUFAN....a whole lot of Valley guards are 5-10 to 6-2...and I cannot imagine our crew of Warren,
Dunson, Roberts, and Dyricus...all of whom are over 6-1 will have trouble defending those guys.
In fact, I think we'll have the best group of bigger guards in the Valley....

Behind McCain, he's the closest thing to a true PG we'll have.

I understand he has the game of a combo guard.

But I think of him as a PG first and I'm not alone in that assessment, because that's the game he'll bring to this team that runs a system where guys with combo tendencies succeed.
