  • Center Kenton Walker leaves Creighton

One of the top big men in the MVC, sophomore Kenton Walker, has officially been granted his release and has left Creighton.
3 weeks ago it was reported that he was considering leaving the team, along with junior guard Cavel Witter. Walker leaving seems like a much bigger loss for Creighton.

Kenton Walker (41) Forward/Center - 2007-08 (Freshman)Averaged 2.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.5 blocks per game ...Played in 30 games, including one start vs. Northern

That's a blow to the bluejays and the Valley. It looks like their rebounding problems will continue.

Actually, Dana Altman is a very rigid coach, and there has been a fairly consistent amount of turnover at Creighton throughout his years there.
Walker is too good to remain a backup for his whole career, which is what Altman had apparently determined he was, behind Kenny Lawrence (also a sophomore). And apparently, Altman is not willing to play them at the same time.

What's Walker think of Jim Les and Peoria?

Not worth it... he would have to sit out 2 years if he transferred within the Valley...

He's from San Diego, so look for him to transfer back to Southern California.

I think this is more of a reflection of the landscape of college basketball today. No programs are immune to kids leaving no matter how good the school, program or coach. This really hurts them and the Valley a lot. I do not like seeing this stuff. Creighton has been our most consistent program and Altman our best coach. If it can happen to him, it can happen to anyone.
Ha Dan, didn't Dana leave the ship and then back stroked back I agree with you on all you have said here about not liking players jumping and how it does hurt the Valley. The term long term commitment is just about a thing of the past

It"s Kenny Lawson but the reason I heard was Walker was not happy with the preferential treatment that P"Allen Stinnet receives compared to the rest of the team.
