This sounds like a bizarre story-

What is with the Louisville TV station claiming to have more information about the details of the "extortion plot" by alleged extortionist Karen Sypher, but that "Fox 41 News has decided not to release the details of her claims at this time."

Apparently it was Ms. Sypher herself who "has already gone to the media with false, defamatory and outrageous allegations in an attempt to pressure me to cave in to this scheme."

If the local media in Peoria has some similar story with "dirt" about one of our local coaches, does anyone think they would hold back and not report it?

I am trying to find out more about this story, but its not easy. The TV stations are tip-toeing around this story and being careful not to release the womans name, or any details of her claims. Here is a TV station that reports the minimum, mainly just what Rick Pitino himself released in his press statement. They even say at the end of this report that they know much more because they received phone calls from this woman or her representative, but they won't say any more. http://www.whas11.com/video/whas11vi...ml?nvid=353230
This is the same as other stations and the newspapers. I have never seen such poor reporting from sources that claim to be objective news outlets.

This is another example of where you can get more information, and a lot more of the facts on message boards, not the drive-by media outlets.

This story involves an alleged affair the coach had, and was involved in recently.

If anyone wants to know more, forget the TV stations and the newspapers, and read the message boards.

I am sure they are only trying to be fair and print only what can be factually substantiated and not go with wild, unsubstantiated claims......
some papers print literally every word they get from women accusers in cases like this, and even print claims by the accuser's friends
& exaggerate with talk of bloodied lips and fictional ligature marks on the neck...

btw - the supposed allegations also name the woman's estranged husband..but I
applaud that the papers haven't run wild with speculation.

Ironically, Pitino once fired an assistant coach while he was head coach for the Boston Celtics, for having an affair.
Forget what people might say at Duke or North Carolina, UCLA or Kansas. Nobody loves their college basketball program like Kentucky fans -- nobody. Where else but Kentucky would a charity auction see a book signed by former President Jimmy Carter go for $70 ... and a basketball signed by Joe B. Hall go for $300? That happened in 2003, a good twenty years after both men had done their best work. You'll find Hall in this book, by the way. Kentucky fans sell out Rupp Arena for home games and invade opposing gyms for road games, earning the nickname The Blue Mist. Kentucky fans loved their basketball players, and that love doesn't fade over time. Years and even decades after their playing careers are finished, Kentucky basketball players routinely win whatever political office they seek in their home state. The 2003 election for state agriculture commissioner came down to one former Kentucky guard (Richie Farmer) against the wife of another former Kentucky guard (Scotty) Baesler). You'll find Farmer and Baesler in this book, by the way. This book is for you, Wildcat Nation. Catch up with more than 50 of your former heroes, guys who went on to become politicians and pastors, artists and dentists, convicts and coaches. Catch up with two former victims of Duke villain Christian Laettner -- Aminu Timberlake (The Stomp) and Deron Feldhaus (The Shot). Learn the heart-warming tale of Dirk Minniefield, who overcame his drug addiction to become a drug cunselor for the NBA. Learn the heartbreak of Tom Payne, who broke Kentucky's color barrier in 1970 in his only season with the Wildcats but has spent most of his adult life in prison. Whatever happened to perhaps the greatest Wildcat of all time, Bill Spivey? It's in this book. How about Tubby Smith's son and point guard, Saul Smith? He's in here, too. Mike Casey? Gimel Martinez? Lou Tsioropoulos? In here, in here, in here. You don't have to be Bob Wiggins, who once saw 615 consecutive UK game and remains the most intense Kentucky fan alive, to enjoy this book. Whatever happened to Wiggins? We checked--he's still attending games. This book is for Wiggins and the rest of the Blue Mist, and for anyone else who has ever wondered, Where have you gone, Linville Puckett?

All kinds of speculation on the message boards about this one. From point shaving involving UL players, to a gay affair between Pitino and the woman accuser's husband.

** “I am devastated by the bizarre allegations that my estranged wife is making against Coach Pitino and myself,” Tim Sypher said in a statement. “I intend to defend the allegations vigorously.” **

              This one's gonna get juicy.

I think it is known that Pitino has had some affairs in the past. It is interesting that you can't find anything out anywhere.

My son-in-law works with the athletic dept during the football and basketball season but I haven't talked to him yet..

I do think it's strange Richard Pitino took an asst job with Florida though....

From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

In a much earlier thread I said that I heard that RP may retire. I believe this has been brewing for a bit and it may force him to leave the game if it gets anymore out of control.

                        New details...

"the alleged extortion plot involved "millions of dollars.""

numerous other facts including an interview with the accuser are available to this news outlet, but they say...

"Recently, in an exclusive interview with Fox 41, Sypher made several claims involving herself and Coach Pitino --
claims our news organization will release once they can be verified.

She did submit to a polygraph test, but the results were inconclusive.

When the time is appropriate, this news organization will replace rumor with fact."

Another person surfaces in this case and is charged with aiding and abetting 49-year-old Karen Cunagin Sypher in her alleged attempt to extort millions from Pitino.
Federal prosecutors have charged a Kentucky man with helping an alleged extortion attempt against University of Louisville coach Rick Pitino.
