nice that he must like the Valley and want to play in the MVC...
both SIU and ISU are looking to get as strong as they can in the paint.
Both lose a bit and have some uncertainties...

-Tony Boyle is gone for SIU and Fay seems to like playing the perimeter...
Both Evans and Booker lack experience and I can't see any of the other new guys like Myers getting much PT.

-ISU loses Sampay, and a few comments lead one to wonder if Bobby Hill will be up to playing 20-30 minuites...so they need help in the frontcourt and the kid could get some PT.
As for Lewis possibly starting....I say go for it...but what does that say about the kids who put their time in last year....like Robinson & Thornton....are they still just not ready?

My take on ISU...and please don't get too riled up, it's just opinion....
that the loss of Oguchi, a big guard who could hit the open 3-pointer, forced defenses to spread out trying to guard 3 and 4 different guys that were good 3-point shooters (Eldridge, Phillips, Holloway, and Champ).
I think the loss of Oguchi (plus Holloway) hurts them more than anything else.
Now the opponents' biggest and best defender can hound OE, and won't have as much else to worry about...
Bradley needs to finish ahead of ISU in 2009-10 year. No excuses there.

I just know, that I hope OE is a hit in the NBA combines or whatever they call it. I'll be glad to see him go! This year's draft is pretty weak and someone could fall in the 2nd round because they can flat out shoot and create their own shot. How much better will OE be able to increase his draft status next year?

I watched ISU 7-8 times last year. Champ stood out every time. Holloway was another guy. Either way they are both gone but as a Bradley fan if you asked me who I preferred stay--I would have said Holloway.

Oguchi was a potential major difference maker on a given night. Holloway really wasnt. You need the special guys to really excel. Guys like Osiris, etc. That's one thing that Bradley is missing--IMO--a guy who can go off and get you 30 on a given night.

Im not sure Bradley has an elite level guy right now.

I believe this is the current scholarship situation in the Valley....

???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

You can change UNI's scholarship chart to '0' for 2009 as Brian Haak (walk on first 3 years, scholy last year and 2009). UNI will have 3 available for 2010 as you have correctly put them at.

I remember seeing somewhere they would probably do that.

Also, I know Indiana State will probably keep their remaining 2009 scholarship open until a decision is made by the NCAA regarding Jake Kelly's eligibility. Any idea what Creighton and SIU have in the works? I know SIU was hoping to land Tony Lewis, but he's going to be one of the many new redbirds.

This story today from the Pantagraph says...
"an ISU team that will have eight new players on the roster for the 2009-10 season."

but as I noted in a post earlier, I actually count more new players, depending I guess on what constitutes "new", so I wonder who they are counting as the new guys??

                  I mentioned...
Bobby Hill, Blake Mishler, Matt Coates, Trey Blue, Terry Johnson, Zeke Upshaw,
Justin Clark, Jon Ekey, Jackie Carmichael, Austin Hill, Tony Lewis, Alex Coppejans.
Perhaps as many as a dozen "new guys"

..but Hill, although possibly playing for the first time at ISU since coming in from juco, is actually not really new...so I wonder if the Panty story is counting him.

..and Mishler & Coates have never yet played so they'd be new in uniform, but they've already been there a year waiting...

..and Blue won't be eligible this year

..and Coppejans is said to looking to walk on, but he's not listed yet as being on the roster
