The bubble treatment just will not do! I will say when he is tired towards the end of a scrimage and work-out he should then just do solo drills to help prevent any injuries. MOst injuries in basketball and most sports tend to happen towards the end of your work-out time when you are tired and not really thinking. I have heard numerous skiers say the blew out their knee on their last run of the day!
That said I understand the point you were making and fatigue definitely plays a roll in making you more vulnerable to injury.
