  • Illini writer takes a swipe at DePaul

    Mark Tupper says...

"Illinois should feel more threatened in Chicago once DePaul decides to get
serious again and fires Jerry Wainwright as head coach. That program is
practically dead in the water after going 9-24 this past season. Keeping
Wainwright on board is a favor to the Illini and any other school that wants to
    recruit in the city.

I would say the swipe is at Wainwright.

What about that statement is not true? DePaul is an awful program right now.

I would even go a step further. I think the three Valley teams in Illinois benefit the longer that Wainwright is the DePaul head coach.

I'll go even one step further than that. I think DePaul would finish dead last in the Valley, behind all three of those Valley Illinois schools.
