  • Approaching a World Record

APDwain Williams (No. 5) Kent State basketball recruit Dwain Williams made a verbal commitment to play his final two seasons of eligibility with the Golden Flashes. But, according to an article in the Honolulu Advertiser, Williams, a point guard,...

Here's the strange tale of Dwain Williams, who has now made verbal commitments to play for at least SIX different schools......which might just be a record.

    Here is a short summary...

Miami (OH) - enrolled here out of high school, but did not play
Providence - stayed 2 years and was a starter, then left when Keno was hired
Long Beach State - verbally committed then reneged
Oregon State - verbally committed then reneged
Kent State - verballed and remained committed but did not enroll and instead went back home and stayed out of college for the year
Hawaii - now he says he'll play for Hawaii next year

he also made an official visit to Missouri State, but we'll have to wait to see if the guy signs a LOI to know where he's really headed.

Hmmm...I think that 8'11 is taller than 8'1. Robert Wadlow was from Alton, IL and is currently the record holder for the World's Tallest Man. I can't imagine how this guy from China could possibly takeover the record considering he is over 10 inches shorter than Wadlow.

well....the record I was speaking of requires being able to stand up...thus Wadlow was disqualified..

Yes, the first article has to be referring to the tallest living person.

There are fewer of these anomalies now. This kind of gigantism is caused by a pituitary tumor that causes the person to grow to extreme heights. These days, the problem is recognized early and corrected so we won't likely see people with this disorder grow to such great heights as in the past.
Incidentally, the life expectancy of people with pituitary gigantism is less than 30 year of age. The condition leads to heart and other organ failures.
