    DC (and everyone)

I don't think Peoria is a small city (it's not Chicago sure, but it's not a one-horse college town), and I don't see a 1-5 scale as congruent with a grading scale.. If I were rating him on a grading scale, I'd give him a B+/A- because he has shown constant improvement and growth in several facets of the game.. But if I'm taking 1-5, with 5 being Coach K/Tom Izzo legend territory, I think I'm reasonable when I give him a 3.25 to a 3.5. I like how Les recruits, I like that half time adjustments more often than not deal with the big issues in the first half and have the team in position to seal a win, I like that he tailors the team to its strengths, and I love that this team can compete and win against anyone (figuratively) in America on our home court.. But I don't like how he substitutes, I don't like how he calls timeouts, and I don't like how many of our players struggle with requisite fundamentals into their 3rd and 4th years (I'm thinking particularly of rebounding)... There's a few subtleties to the game that he will need to improve, and he will need to have us on top of the valley a couple of times in the next two to four years to earn a 4 from me. And I would say that a 4 would be an A to A+ if we want to put it on a grading scale. To be fair, I think he's in a tight competition for the 2nd best coach in the valley at this point in time. I want Les to succeed, and I'm behind him, so I hope BU goes out and wins big next year.
Here's the deal, Wyoming for football, Bradley for basketball.

I would give Coach Les a 4 for this season on doing the best he could with the talent he had. Of course that reflects back on recruiting. Although I think Darrian Norris is a solid division one talent I did not understand adding him on with Eddren and Sam M. already in play at the point guard. If you have a Patrick O'Bryant you can get away with playing all small guards, but without that type of Center I think you have to be conscious of size at Guard in order to stay competitive. But as I have told people this year I had hope, next year I have expectations. Normal Paul

Sorry guess my sarcasm was missed! I have heard from some that you cant rate, cant criticize, cant truly comment, unless you have walked a mile in his shoes. I have said before...that if we only limit our discussions to what we ourselves have experienced, we may as well shut down the board!

4.5 This year was his best coaching job so far. With the injuries he changed the style of play in the middle of the season and we became a better team.

The reason I categorized Peoria as a small city private midmajor school, is because the schools that Bradley is always compared to when critics say "Why can't Bradley be like.....", always use schools like Butler. But it is easier to recruit the kids you target when you are in a bigger city, and really hard to recruit a kid to a town like Peoria.
Many of us recall Bradley's glory years, but the kids these days don't know any of that. I've said it before, but Bradley and Peoria are extremely hard to recruit to.

I just can't agree with that. Think DePaul and Loyola in the last 10 years - in a big city. And we have recruited many great players in our history, just wait and see, until next season, what comes to be

I didn't say anything about DePaul or Loyola.
You are assuming I said the reverse of what I really said.
I did not say that being in a big city means a school will draw good recruits. Of course that's not true, and I never believed or said that.
I said being a small school in a smaller city like Peoria is a drawback to recruiting. Bradley has had some good players, yes. But Bradley has always had to rely on the "under-the-radar" types, or the late developers. No BU coach has ever been able to successfully recruit the blue-chip players, the 4-star or 5-star players. Bradley just cannot compete for those kinds of players.

You are fooling yourself if you think Bradley's location, Peoria, is a positive factor in recruiting. It is a detriment that a coach has to overcome.
