  • Rate Coach Les

1 to 5 1 being the worst and 5 the best.

I'm not trying to start a flame fest, I'm just interested to see what others think. I only saw 9 or 10 games this year.

I would say a 3 with potential to be a 4. Recruiting, good. Game coaching, average or slightly below.

i feel that this thread, regardless of its intentions, will turn into a flamefest and end up moderated to the point of little value. However, with that being said, I am going to go with a 3. JL is an average coach, he has his strength and weaknesses. Work on exemplifying the strengths and mitigating the weaknesses and he has the potential to become much better.

      Jim Les Bradley Braves

      Offense 4

      Defense 3

      Substituting 2

      Half-time adjustments 3

      Team scouting 3

      Recruiting 3 (Coming close to a 4)

      Average 3

I think Les is one of the top 3 or 4 coaches in the conference, so I believe he can field a team and coach a team to a conference championship. However, he has a long ways to go before he becomes a "great" coach.

I believe that it all starts with recruiting. Hopefully Les can get some better players in here when the new facilities are done.

        3.5 out of 5.

We haven't finished in the Top 3 of the Valley, and have no tournament titles. That has to be penalized somehow.

However, we're in the top half of the Valley pretty consistently. 4 straight postseasons can't be ignored. A Sweet 16 run can't be ignored. This success mostly cancels out the lack of Valley titles or contention.

His recruiting is good. Remember, this guy turned someone into a lottery pick (O'Bryant).

Our national exposure and scheduling has greatly improved. 2 for 1s with Michigan St. butler. We're getting good solid non-conference games and good solid opportunities on national TV to play basketball. This is a major step in legitmizing Bradley as a top mid-major program, and all this has happened under Les.

In-game coaching is alright, but I think there's room for improvement there. Others can answer this part better than I can. But from a program-wide assessment, Les has been very good.

I'm not going to rate JL. I think that he has improved every year that he's been the coach here. I think if you'd compare where he was as a coach when he got here, you'd see that he's come a long way.

I'm excited to see him continue to improve and, hopefully, bring the program to the top of the conference and the national stage.

If you are going straight from a BU administration point of view Les has been awesome. We are averaging over 10,000 people a game for conference games and the program is extremely popular right now in Peoria. As long as Les keeps doing that then his job is fine. But if he doesn't improve in the next 2-4 years he will have A LOT of pressure on him.

What Les did with the team and the hand he was dealt this past year was nothing short of phenomenal!!! And, as mentioned, Les has Bradley basketball hotter than ever!

I think Les himself would give himself a 3! Untill we go to the dance or are considered a bubble team consistantly the team thus, Les will not be a 4. When we become a Gonzaga, Butler or Xavier I'll give him a 5.

His performance thus far deserves a 3.5 or a 4. Some of that is bad luck with injuries and some you just chalk up to a learning experience. Some is that it just takes time to put the facilities and a winning culture in place.

If I put a number on how good the man is for Bradley, I give him a 5. Bradley really can't do much better than Jim Les. This is the right guy, at the right place, at the right time.

If we don't finish in the top 3 of the Valley in the next 2 years, then he should be gone. At some point, you have to contend. We can't grow complacent in the middle of the pack.

The good news, however, is that all indications point to us being serious contenders for years to come.
