    3.5

I'd say 3.5. He has done well with some bad luck. I can't give him higher because of our finishes in the standings. overall I am very happy with him. I think some of his in game moves could improve. If we get all the incoming commitments and they live up to the clippings we should be able to raise the rating.

If I put a number on how good the man is for Bradley, I give him a 5. Bradley really can't do much better than Jim Les. This is the right guy, at the right place, at the right time.
You beat me to it. Agree with everything. Keep up the good work Coach Les and GO SOX.

I have never been a Divison I basketball head coach before so I can not justify giving a pt. ranking. I only see the after product of each game and have no ideal of the work, preparation and efforts given to coach this team. I have my thoughts as a fan on what I would like to see done differantly at times but in the real world this means nothing. I look forward to watching JL and the team grow together into everyone's expectations and it seems to me we are headed in the right direction towards that goal.

I dont understand how anyone can put a rating on JL. Unless you have done the job...coached at the D1 level, prepared for a D1 game, recruited D1 players....or have season tickets, sit in the lower bowl, and go to all the road games...it is impossible for you to make such a judgement....or so I have heard!

          BTW...I would give him a 3.5 overall

              Lucky to Have Him!

Bottom line is - could Bradley do better with someone else? Where would we find someone who loves Bradley and the program more than Jim - we are flat out lucky to have him - hope he stays for life! End this thread before we embarrass ourselves!

That's kind of like saying you can't put a rating on Michael Jordan unless you've played at the NBA level or give your opinion on anything else unless you've actually done that particular job. I don't agree with that statement.

Considering everything, on and off the court, 4.

It's often noted that he has to compete in a much tougher Valley than his predecessors. What is often left unspoken is that he IS A KEY REASON WHY THE VALLEY IS SO MUCH TOUGHER. His recruiting has been flat-out superior, and under his leadership, BU is one of the several Valley programs fielding faster, more athletic, more talented teams than we saw in the MVC in the 90's and before. Take away the level of talent he's brought in and the whole league looks a lot softer.

4, on his way to 5.

So's Coach Les. As for those saying nobody can rate a coach unless they have coaching experience, aren't we all experts when it comes to most posts. JK.

I have to disagree on that one. I think he is more aggresive at calling timeouts when the situation warrants them. I think the CIT final was a good case in point. Maybe one more timeout in the first half during ODU's run would have helped, but then he would have been short towards the end when the game was close. So you can't fault him for that.

Overall I give him a 4. The injuries he has had to deal with the last two years have been incredible. To go 42-33 with two runner up finishes in the post season and two upper division finishes in the conference is pretty darn good considering what he has had to work with. Give him a full team and I can hardly wait to see how they will do the next few years!

                              recruiting - 4
                              game plan - 2.5
substitutions - 2 (why take someone out after 4-5 minutes when they make two shots in a row)
                              3-4 guard offense - 1

                              Overall, including assistant coaches - 2.5 = C-

I am willing to let everyone have their opinions, but if his grade is C-, that clearly means you think he is below average. And I don't see anything about Bradley's program that is below average.

Bradley has finished above the average in the league for the last 4 seasons, the coach has a winning overall record, he has had a season-ending RPI way above average the last 4 years, he he has had winning seasons the last 4 years and played in postseason tournaments, he recruits good kids who go to class and graduate, and the program is drawing in new fans and a lot more of them which is one of the things he was hired to do. And he won 2 NCAA games, which is more than any coach in the last 50+ years. I could list a lot more positives than negatives, but it seems the only negative for some fans is that he hasn't won enough games for their satisfaction.

There are only a couple midmajor, small-city, private D1 schools that have been better over the last 4-5 years than Bradley.
I am not satisfied with where BU is, but I do think things will get better. But I also recognize it is very hard for schools like Bradley to recruit and compete against the major schools, and the state schools, or the schools in big cities. And Coach Les has done a good job at this.

For anyone who feels like answering, and rates the coach below average, who do you think could do a better job?
