I have seen DSE a number of times....

He is very strong guard, cut very much like SM.

He is a good defender, very quick...decent hands.

Ball handling is above average, can get to the basket.

I think he needs to work on his outside shot

He would be a good pick up for BU, hope he chooses BU!
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

This is interesting with DSE looking at UNI. Up until this weekend, I had not heard of him looking at UNI.

I do know that UNI is being very selective with who they bring in. Jake does not want to do anything to mess with the chemistry on the team with everyone back, but Travis Brown. The chemistry is what made this team what it was. The fact that DSE is looking at UNI at this point in the process means that he must be a pretty solid kid both on and off the court. I don't know the kid, but I'm sure he's must be a good one...I'd appreciate input from those who do know more about him and his game.

UNI has 2 open scholys. UNI will most likely only bring in one late signee, with the other scholarship going to walk-on Brian Haak. If no one is brought in, Adam Rodenberg would get the other scholy. That would put UNI at 3 former walk-ons as scholarship players. Jake has been able to get guys to come in, walk-on, redshirt, and develop with the chance at scholarships down the road. So far, it's proven to be successful. Guys like Matt Schneiderman and Jared Josten have been guys who walked on first and then got scholys.

Jake likes running a 2 PG offense...DSE sounds like he would fit that mold fairly well.

As for Frostbite Falls, it's cold in the winter...no doubt. Guess what? If you can't handle a couple degree difference, then I'm not sure you're tough enough.

As for the females, there usually aren't the fake kind around here. When I came to college, there were a ton more females than I was used to when in HS. At UNI, DSE has 7,000 females on campus to choose from, as compared to about 2,000 at Bradley! (jk, BU fans)

Anyway, I'd appreciate more info on DSE. Thanks!

I also have seen DSE play numerous times. I think he has a big upside. His outside shot is underrated. It improved significantly this year over last year. He became a solid free throw shooter this year.He can get to the rim and is a solid rebounder for a guard. I think his weakness is ballhandling. What I am impressed with is he always looked Coach Brown in the eye as he was getting yelled at. Didn't pout. Nobody escapes the wrath........
I would say he would be a candidate for a redshirt if he signed with BU.He's had two significant injuries that would have time to heal somewhat.
I think BU fans would love him. And two other things: he's worked hard as you don't play for Coach Brown unless you do and he's pretty fundamentally sound(i.e. he's been coached well).
I really would like to see him at BU

A red shirt for EITHER Eastman or DSE (IF he comes) would be OK with me. The DSE case would make more sense though. Let him heal more,,,get stronger...work on his game and he will have longer at the point or 2 spot with Sam and co. a year closer to graduation.

I know kids don't like to hear the r/s possibility but it CAN really help a player.

Anyway...hope we here something soon regarding the last scholie.......

Good luck to DSE whatever he decides. Looks like he has some good choices. Free education is NEVER bad.

Thats why I said I know they don't want to hear that......but hey, its a fact of MANY succesful programs. A guy like Eastman, with a dad as a headcoach, might understand its his best way to get to the next level OR just improve his chances of succeeding in college.

And, for a guy like DSE it may be a way to get more PT with guards graduating earlier in his playing career.

Look at Norris, had he r/s'd MAYBE he would have stayed...I dunno.

I'm not saying its going to or SHOULD happen....its more just talk on a slow Sunday to generate some conversation.

I really don't want to lose a recruiting battle to that slimeball Frank Martin. I mean come on. So they're Big 12. Big deal. They'll be nothing more than Jayhawk bait for the next 4 years. Meanwhile BU will be building a national program. Easy call IMO.

                    Red Shirts

I would love to see us get to the point where we could get kids to red shirt.. at least some of them. Sadly it just doesn't happen in basketball the way it does in football. Someone somewhere always promises PT immediately and that's a heck of a lot more fun than riding the pine with no chance of getting in a game.

It would help a lot of these kids to sit a year.. get a year of school under their belts.. get bigger physically.. and learn the system before ever having to worrying about playing in a game.. and still having 4 years to play.

But try to convince a 17 year old all of that is true!

Some of you are acting like Peoria isn't in central Illinois where corn grows fairly fertile! The only pro to living in Peoria as compared to Waterloo-CF (besides the couple degrees colder as some point out) is that we don't have an Avanti's! That alone makes me want to move to Peoria or B-N.

But, if DSE wants to play in NCAA tourneys, then maybe UNI is the choice for him, as we've been there 4 of the last 6 years, and every player who has come in since 2000 that has stayed all four years has played in an NCAA Tourney.

Just playing around with you BU fans...we can't touch your Sweet Sixteen and Hersey Hawkins years (and beyond).

I think the point he's getting at also is that Peoria is a central focus to larger cities. You can drive 3 hours N to Chicago, 4 hours S to STL, and 3 hours E to Indianapolis.

It really takes you 4 hours? Wow, I must really book it when I get there 2 hours and 30 minutes on a consistent basis.
