We need a 6'7 hard nose rebounder and shooting Power Forward like MS We don't need 6'7s at the 5 If we are going after a 5 lets get one 6'9 or above

The Last Scholarship

I am completely for using the last scholarship on a freshman guard, specifically someone who lives close-by and is interested. Here is why.
When you look at the players currently lined up for BU, there will be an abundance of height and big bodies in a couple of years. Obviously people leave every year and there are a lot of unforeseen circumstances, but currently for the 2011-12 season, the players set for being on the roster are McCain-5'11", Eastman-6'4", Brown-6'7", Prosser-6'8", Egolf-6'9", Thompson-6'10", Knezevic-6'8", Wilkins-6'9", and Harris-6'7".
Basically, if no one leaves, gets injured, or transfers (wishful thinking... won't happen) then our roster for 11-12 has 9 players on it, 7 of whom are 6'7" or taller, and only 2 guards. It seems like adding a JuCo big would hurt the development of some of the big players we already have coming in.This is just the tip of the iceberg...

And I don't care if he is a guard!
Also, we need to take the best available local player, if he is interested in Bradley, to not turn off The local studs we may want down the line.
For years, Bradley turned off the local players due to Bradleys lack of interest. thus we missed out on certain opportunities.
Let's not fall back into that posittion.

So I ask the question - Who's playing inside next year? Who's going to keep us from getting destroyed inside the way we have been against bigger teams? Thompson at this point is a bust, Egolf is coming off of major knee surgery, and Singh is what he is. Taylor Brown is more of a 4, and a somewhat undersized one at that. Now we're down to 2 incoming big men, one of which sounds like more of a wing player (Knezevic). Are we pinning our hopes next year on a freshman post player? That's not fair to Jordan Prosser, and it's not fair to the other veterans on this roster. Had Anthony Thompson developed this year and Will Egolf not been hurt, this is a moot conversation. But AT has shown no signs of being capable of playing, and Will Egolf blew out an ACL. We need some insurance inside. Sam Singh and a couple of rookies won't be able to compete in our league or on a national level, which is where this program thinks, wants, and should to be.Onward and Upward!

Defense, rebounding, and finishing around the basket shouldn't be that hard to find. Heck, defense and rebounding is really all the insurance I think we would need.

I'm here. Most of you guys are worring about the 5. I think we should be more concern with who is going to replace TW at the 4. We got some 5's coming back along with JP but who is our 4. TB has shown us some things this year but I am not sure at this point he is the answer and if not him who.

CIT Team Talent vs BU
The one thing I like about post season tourneys like the CIT / CBI is that we get to see and play teams that we otherwise would not get on our schedule! Watching OU and ODU in particular I was really impressed with the physical stature of their team rosters especially compared to BU. I went out to the NCAA to see what OU and ODU's recruiting budgets were and was suprised to see OU booked less than $30K on recruiting - ODU was up around $100K - I don't know what BU spends but I don't see too many studs like I saw on OU and ODU. Now however you cut it - we beat OU and had we hit a couple of threes or got the foul line like we do in 'normal' games we would have won the CIT at home! But I wouldn't give you odds that we could beat either of those teams on the road or on a neutral court! And if we played each 10 games in Carver I don't think we could beat either more than 3 out of 10 times - just my opinion!
Somebody suggested it - we need some beef and strength on this team - another guard is not what is going to get us back to the NCAA! And quite frankly I don't care where in the world they come from - as long as they come!
Sorry Washington fans!

I think we have many options here.......and all would be fine...:
1. Get another guard that can shoot and get to the rim....DSE
2. Get a Juco big that can bang and get some boards.
3. Get a 4 year recruit that is a big that has some of that Potential....take a chance
4. Leave it for another year.
5. I would even like to see another Taylor Brown type of player.
We are fine inside next year with SS and WE. JP will contribute and could even see some time at the 4. MK is a wild card..if he can play the 4 and play outside, that would create some trouble for others defense.
I would just love to see a lineup something like this:
SM or EM 6'0 or so
AW or DD 6'3 or so
TB or CR 6'6" yeh Chris needs to grow a couple inches
WE or MK 6'8"
SS or JP 6'9"Peoria Toyota Scion

imho there's no reason the coaching staff cannot evaluate what our bigs can do in the 4 and 5 spots, further (realistically) develop what they can do, and develop the team's system that uses their strengths (i.e do not expect them to be all over, setting so many high screens. Give them a limited area to play, and play big.)
I think it would be a travesty to waste CR's athleticism guarding other bigger players, just put our bigs in a position to succeed.
