    I find this odd....?

BU had fans posting on their board basically giving them all the scouting info they needed...
if I were the coach and saw that, I would wonder why my teams fans would give so much info to the other team.....

    just struck me as odd....

Opposing team's fans have done that here, have they not? It's not like there's anything to really hide nowadays.

Are you saying we should start giving mis-leading info to other fans, such as "DD always goes right" I do understand your point, but do coaches really believe anything posted on message boards?

It would be interesting to know how much info coaches give each other. I'm sure ODU tried to talk to a few other Valley coaches..

If coaches are getting scouting information from fan message boards, they won't be in coaching too long.

Check my entry in the Synopsis of Old Dominion Team thread from the day before the game. Not that I hit it dead on, but it played out fairly close.
No secrets given. Our strength is defense and rebounding and we have an unusually high number of lefties. It's not hard for coaches to pick that stuff up. After 30+ games, the stats tend to give a pretty clear picture of team's and player's strengths, and weaknesses.
The key for us was to withstand your three point shooting on your home court. I think our 3-2/1-2-2 and 2-3 zones gave us the best shot at that, which is normally backwards thinking.
I'm sure you're sick at the thought of losing to us at home. I would be too, especially shooting 18% from three. Having a team whose strength is 3 point shooting makes you dangerous, but not consistent. We went through that last year with 3 senior guards. The odd thing with us last year was that all three would have bad shooting nights at the same time. It wasn't something that we were prepared for. One would figure that at least one would have a decent night from the floor. Last night, you had one of those games. We tried to find some magic with this year's team, but abandoned the idea of outside shooting midway through the season and began pounding away down low. You just caught us at a bad time where we found a groove and have been riding it to a 14-2 record in our last 16.
Now we are struggling with the thought that we might be a much better team than a CIT participant. Too late for that now I guess.
I hope that your experience meeting, chatting, etc. with our fans have found us to be respectful. We have some fans that can get carried away and I hope that, if you had any negative experiences, you don't think that it is a reflection of our school or program. I feel we both have programs to be proud of. We certainly have respect for your program and conference. We live in the same world (mid-major) and have the same struggles to compete on an uneven playing field. Let's hope we knock off some of the big boys (again) soon.

Exactly. Furthermore, I don't think any of our coaches were aware that Darius James was a left-handed player.

Seriously? I heard one of the coaches talking about the left handed players on ODU. I am sure they scouted them and knew this.

This is a joke! April fools right.... I can see it now, front page news. ODU coaches uses the teams message board for crucial information to win title!

I take it you didn't read the scouting report. Bradley wasn't a good three point shooting team this year. They were the previous two years. One of the reason this year was frustrating to watch at time was that the previous BU teams would have lit up a zone. This BU team was good against man to man defenses, but struggled against zones. Not too many college teams rely heavily on a zone defense and Bradley ran into one on Tuesday night.

                  Congratulation on the victory.

not a big deal....just found it odd....and given the time in between games and having to scramble for info on the opposition...I wouldn't want any info out there....

you may be surprised who checks out whats being said on message boards

Quote of the year. The self importance of message boards grows each day.

There is no question that some coaches partake in "negative recruiting".
They may not want a recruit, or they may not stand a chance to get him, but they will do whatever they can to make sure their conference rival doesn't get him.
So in that case, it might be a detriment for too much info to be out on a message board about who a coach is recruiting. Most coaches are highly secretive about recruiting info, as well as game-plan info.

                          Tornado...here is a scenerio....

Someone posts on our board that the team we are playing really struggled against a 1-3-1 zone against Richmond.....

I call Jim and ask... "hey have you seen tapes of the Richmond game vs our opponent?"
He says they have tape on three other games but not the Richmond game.....
"Hey Jim you need to get that one"....."Richmond had them baffled with a 1-3-1 zone..I heard that on the grapevine for what its worth...."

Jim says thanks coachdude we will take a look.......see you at the next game.....

all i am saying is that its odd that we would see fit to give anyone a scouting report on their site...make them come here and read

I thought that the coaches were afforded a professional scouting report service (with video). The reports have a lot more details then any of us would have time to type up.
