  • Fox College Sports CIT coverage in one word: AWFUL!

For those just coming from the game, the Fox College Sports coverage of this game was nothing short of abominable! They had a glitch that was evident throughout the entire game. Cuts to different camera angles would result in the screen going black for a split second. This must have happened over 200 times during the game! No exaggeration!

Also, this announcing team was the worst I have ever heard! The play-by-play guy sounded like this was his first game.....EVER! One of the commentators was good, but the other one couldn't put two sentences together either. The play-by-play announcer took over 30 minutes of the game before he finally was able to pronounce Sam Maniscalco's name, and almost 15 minutes before he realized he was at Carver Arena! AND, he didn't even know what network he was on, calling it "Fox Sports College"! Total bush league!

As far as that glitch is concerned, for Fox to allow that to happen is shocking! I know Fox College Sports is not the most viewed channel on their network, but I don't care if it's the Fox Tiddlywinks Channel! Fox is a conglomorate that should not allow that to happen, not some podink network!

If the CIT is going to rise in popularity, they need to make sure Fox does not send a "high school" crew to run a championship game of a postseason tournament, no matter how small it may be.

Well said. You did not exaggerate. I can't comment on the announcers as I muted in favor of Snell.

The only thing worse than the coverage was the wooden trophy. What a J.V. event top to bottom.

Well, I thought the CIT tournament was well run, and the games were competitive. And it's a great tourney that has the potential to be around and well respected for years to come for the mid-majors and/or younger teams that aren't quite good enough for the bigger tournaments. I will argue that this tournament was more competitive than much of the NCAA Tournament. And the teams that participated played with a passion that many NIT teams don't play with.

As for the trophy itself, the trophy actually did not look that bad considering this is a first year tournament. They obviously are not going to award a crystal or gold trophy for a tournament of this size, and the CIT trophy was actually quite a bit bigger than some of the major sports trophies I have seen, albeit not nearly as valuable money wise. It's still a trophy that is nice to display in the trophy case.

For those who weren't there, or did not stay for the trophy presentation, here is the CIT trophy. I thought it was cool.

For the record, here was the trophy for last year's CBI. I think this looks cheap.-

Yeah, I actually like the CIT trophy.

Regarding the broadcast, it was pretty bad. The technical difficulties were the worst thing about it. I don't care about the commentators. I wasn't expecting Clark Kellog or anything. But at least get the picture right.

                  Television coverage was brutal.

They interviewed the head of the committee at the half. This really seems like a tournament geared towards mid majors and small majors. Talked about expanding to 32 teams.

It really feels like the CIT is "small-time". Given the choice between CIT and CBI from now on, I think the choice is CBI every time. Of course, it's a moot point when we go on to win the national championship next year

Oh that's cool! I was going to ask if they received a runner-up trophy, which they did. Even that one looks better than the CBI trophy! I don't believe the CBI trophy is made of real crystal either!
