Iowa is not cleaning house, Lickliter does not want any of these players to leave. Also in news at Iowa, it sounds like the groundbreaking for their new practice facility is being pushed back a year or two. Not good news for Lick. He has players leaving saying the style is boring and they don't know their roles and now his recruiting tool of a new facility is being pushed back.

At ISU, McDermott lost Mann and today, Wes Eikmeier. Mann had picked ISU over Creighton and Iowa, but he looked very non-Big 12 this year in the few minutes he played. Not big enough to be a power forward and not fast enough for small forward. Eikmeier battled illness and injury this year and basically said in his comments about his leaving that he felt he would never be able to get his body to the point it needed to be to play in the Big 12. He is about 165 pounds. Greg wanted Wes to stay and work hard to get his body built up, but Wes opted to go elsewhere, very likely to a smaller and possibly less rigorous conference. I suspect he will end up at Colorado State.

The same day ISU lost Mann, they got a verbal from LaRon Dendy, a JUCO PF that was a top 100 player out of high school and had signed with Clemson before having to go JUCO.

Eikmeier was going to be for Iowa State what Matt Roth was at IU...a lights out kinda guy...sorry to hear he's gone.
The thing is, ISU has a very similar player to Eikmeier in Scott Christopherson and Lucca Staiger can be a lights out shooter as well. Too many of the same thing and Eikmeier was the least developed of the three. I wish him the best and wish he had stayed, but props to him for admitting he was not up to the challenge and I hope he finds a place where he can succeed.

Bradley lost 4 starters from their 2007-08 team and look how they finished this year . With good coaching it CAN be done. Lickliter is also a good coach and Iowa should be able to finish above IU.

According to Springfield, Missouri, Sports Talk radio, Peterson has enrolled at Missouri State and plans to play basketball, but has not received a scholarship offer.

            Good Luck on Tuesday.

              Interesting from the article:

"On Friday, they offered a scholarship to Marcus Jordan from Whitney Young High School in Chicago. He is the son of NBA great Michael Jordan."

I was not that impressed with him, but that would be his highest offer.

It'll be interesting to see whether Kelly will be able to play next season. I'd say it is pretty likely.

If you are referring to the NCAA granting a waiver to the rule that would require Kelly sit out a year, maybe it could happen. For those who don't know, Kelly's mother was tragically killed in a plane crash last year, so he will appeal for hardship consideration. However, the NCAA has never been known to be kind to the MVC on these kinds of matters, especially considering Kelly is leaving one of the NCAA's beloved BCS schools.
However, that doesn't stop the Sycamores from already placing Kelly in next year's starting lineup-

I hope it all works out for Indiana State, their fans have suffered long enough with poor teams.

What I do find a little humorous is this claim that Jake Kelly will "tear the MVC to shreds"--

Yes, I realize this is an Iowa fan saying this, but we've heard claims like this before every time a player from a BCS conference has transferred to the MVC in the past, and it never happens.
There have been a number of Big Ten players who have transferred to the MVC over the years, and none that I recall ever dominated. Some became good players, but not POY-types. For the record, I do believe Kelly would be a very good player if he plays in the MVC.

???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

That's good news for Indiana State. Their fan base has dwindled to less than 3,000 at some games. It would be nice to see them get better and start drawing big crowds again.

an intersting comment from Iowa coach Todd Lickliter after losing a ton of players to transfers and departures......leaving him with at least three still unfilled scholarships...

"I’d rather have an open scholarship than to have somebody who’s either unhappy or doesn’t fit,” Lickliter said last night."

                        who doesn't fit??
Really......Todd...of the four players who just bolted, three were recruited & landed by YOU and the other
was a very highly rated Top 100 kid who transferred into Iowa from the Big East.
