Boys to Men senior, Nayal Mac Koshwal had a very fine tournament at the Las Vegas Reebok Big Time AAU Event.
Recall that Nayal first entered high school in Canada in 2000 (where he had emigrated from Sudan), then in 2002 came to the US and played in Chicago at Chicago Julian High School under head coach Loren Jackson. Things got suspicious when Mac moved in with Coach Jackson who also became his legal guardian.
Koshwal was ruled ineligible to play high school basketball by the Chicago Public league due to discrepancies in his transcripts and age documentation, after the CPL received complaints that Mac was way older than allowed.
Since then he has attended Boys to Men and is now classified as a senior, although it is suspected he is well over 20 years of age.
A new story by Mike Pegram (Premium article writer for Indiana Rivals) tells us the whole story on Mac.
He is 6'9" and strong, and did an good job at the Reebok Big Time averaging a double double and having one game of 25pts, 14 rebs.
His Chicago Jaguars went 6-1, and many observers said that Mac greatly improved his ranking in the eyes of the observers there.
Look for him to move higher than the #75 he presently rates in the Rivals 150.
He is being recruited by many top programs, but has yet to get a solid offer. I think the answer of why can be seen in this statement by Mac.
"So far I have DePaul, Kansas, Georgetown, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and Indiana too," said Koshwal. "Of those schools on that list I am going to try to take my five visits but I need to get in my ACT test first"
So he is going on 21, has been in high school for SIX years already, and still hasn't gotten a qualifying score on his ACT.
He is the top priority for DePaul this year, though.
