TJ is pretty busy right now.
His team is playing the 23-5 Elmhurst York team of Coach Al B in tonight's semifinal of the East Aurora Sectional.
If they win, they play the winner of the Batavia (26-1) vs. Glenbard East (24-3) semi on Friday night.

I want to commend Ken Kavanagh and Bradley for trying to help out the Bradley fans. After Bradley's win Friday, Bradley bought up a large block of tickets at the Bradley end of the lower bowl for both Sat & Sun games and stood outside and corralled Bradley fans and sold the tickets to them at a discount.

I wish I had seen him. I ended up going from half court lower bowl tickets on Friday to corner upper bowl tickets for the Saturday game. There were surprisingly a bunch of BU fans up at the top with us.

Then they need to get the ice out of there. Our court is known to be slippery due to the ice rink under our floor boards.

its not us, its any basketball court over an ice rink. these courts tend to hold the moisture & slip more. its not an isolated bradley problem.

true, theres many places with ice that we've played at. the allstate hosts of the chicago wolves & depaul blue demons. & im sure most of these arenas in the ncaa dance will have ice under them too.

Who ever said they were great places to play in? For whatever reason the Carver arena is known for being a slippery floor. If we want to give JL some recruiting ammo we need to get better facilities. Someone may want to ask JL what we need and what would be great to have to help him recruit.

from a div 1 school's point of view, would you rather play men's basketball in the carver arena or the fieldhouse? what about a little gym like loyola's gentile center?

The Fieldhouse would be a great atmosphere except we play at Carver for the $$$. It would also help if the students could sit around the perimeter of the arena but then where would our boosters sit? Duke does not play in a modern arena (quite small place) but the atmosphere is probably the best in basketball because the students are into the game and are really practically on the floor. Duke though has the state of the art meeting room and training facility as well as being Duke.

I think a decent layout for the boosters and the students would have students at each end of the court, with the boosters along the side.

even if they just move the band to the other side to open up the middle of the student section. I heard that as a gripe of some students as a reason they dont go to games, they dont like the noise so close to the band. Its a lame excuse but whatever.

Hehehe, so they go to a basketball game for a nice quiet relaxing evening by the fire or something? It SHOULD be loud at a basketball game. Back when I was allowed in the student (heheh I sound like some old guy "back in my day"-- I guess it was only three years ago...) section I tried to do everything I could to be loud and supportive.

Yeah I dont know what they would expect except for it to be loud. I tried to get people to come with me to every game and they all had poor excuses, nobody really studies on friday nights, they probably just wanted to drink in their rooms.

Yeah, I think that's the reason why an on-site stadium is a big deal. When I was in school I had a whole bunch of trouble doing anything that required planning really. Even when I was in the Red Zone (still called that?) I probably missed 1/3 of the games for no good reason. On the other hand, I think if games were on campus, a lot of students would be able to stir themselves up for a walk across the quad... especially if you had some students out selling tickets on the quad or in the residence halls or something like that. Two ingredients= ease of access, and a reminder that something's going on...
