  • Josh Tabb news/not good timing

"Tennessee freshman guard Josh Tabb will be sidelined for the next few months after breaking his right wrist while playing pickup basketball. Tabb, who's on campus and enrolled in the second session of summer school, has already been placed in a cast. He should be recovered in time for the start of practice in October."
    The Tennessean

Also highly ranked incoming guard, Ramar Smith has not yet been approved by the NCAA Clearinghouse and the UT admissions office.
He is still not enrolled and the prospect of losing him for 06-07 is getting larger.
Both Smith and Tabb were in the hunt for starting point guard at UT.
One other guard, returnee Dane Bradshaw is also still sidelined after surgery for broken wrist.

Ramar Smith is a FIVE STAR recruit who first committed to UConn then decommitted and chose Tennessee.
It has been reported that in his final semester he took (and reportedly easily passed) way more difficult college prep classes than most kid could be expected to handle. On top of that he got a passing ACT score that had jumped 8 points from his previous one, similar to the story with Daniel Ruffin.
The NCAA Clearinghouse has not yet accepted his score, and with only a few weeks until first semester classes begin, he may be looking at a year of prep school or juco.

Josh Tabb with cast on arm
Apparently not the first time he's done this.

Could one of you explain why the picture appears to show someone wearing what looks like a Duke uniform, and his left wrist is in a cast? The article above says Josh Tabb broke his right wrist.

It is obviously not a current pic, and I think that's what he meant when he said
"Apparently not the first time he's done this."

The pic of Tabb is from his Junior year of HS when he broke his wrist. He is just wearing a Duke shirt.

I don't think Tabb could of been the starting point guard in the SEC. He doesn't have the handles.

In case anyone was actually interested in this Ramar Smith case, which actually was quite similar to the Daniel Ruffin case.

Well, as you'd expect, the NCAA cleared Smith to play for BCS-major Tennesse, despite the suspicious big jump in his scores, but in the other scenario involving DRuff and midmajor Bradley, they did not issue clearance.

Does any of this actually surprise anyone.

Thijin Moses was cleared to play for DePaul, but Crawford didn't even bother waiting for a ruling. Not sure what to make of that.
