  • Final weekend bubble talk

Well, some trouble has emerged for some mid-majors based on some upsets over the past few hours. First, the top two teams have gone down in the Atlantic 10, leaving Temple or Duquesne as your A-10 champion. With Dayton and Xavier pretty much locked in, a third team will emerge from the A-10, with the potential for even four teams in if Duquesne wins. We know Duquesne will need to win the tourney for a bid, but Temple may be in now even if they don't win. Their RPI top 50 record of 2-5 and top 100 record of 5-8 may keep them out, but they have nice wins against Tennessee and now Xavier, and they finished a strong third in the conference. They may not be in yet, but it is awfully close for them at the moment.

Also Maryland is now back in the picture with their win against Wake Forest, and you still have Baylor and Wyoming hanging around.

Thankfully Utah St just escaped into the finals in the WAC tournament or their really would have been some dart throwing by the committee this weekend! It still will be a tough weekend for the committee and it will be interesting to see whom Lunardi has in his latest bracket.

It's interesting to note that Doug Gottlieb still believes Creighton and Arizona were helped today by the fact that Florida lost to Auburn and that Auburn's profile was slightly weaker than Florida's. Also, you still have three teams coming out of the MWC and A-10 anyway, so not too many other bubble spots have been taken. However, if Baylor wins the Big 12 tomorrow and Wyoming wins the MWC, this could be trouble.

Again, that's why this is the "most wonderful time of the year" for us college basketball fans! It should be a great weekend!

You forgot to mention that Tulsa will shock the nation tomorrow and steal another bid from a bubble team.

Ooooh, I'd love to see Tulsa make the tournament, but I'm a Valley loyalist first and foremost. So I'm a little torn between the two. But it would be nice if Memphis could be knocked down a peg or two. Tulsa just about had them earlier this year, so anything is possible.

Now if Tulsa stayed in the Valley, then I would not have minded them being in the tournament.

Tulsa beating Memphis would be a bubble buster I would not mind seeing take place.

Wow, Creighton is still among the last four in. Penn State and Arizona got bumped from the field by Lunardi.
