  • Peoria, not Chicago, boasts Illinois' best high school hoops

Was surfing the web at work this afternoon and found this short story about High School hoops in Illinois and Peoria in particular and has a brief mention of Bradley!

Chicago may produce the most NBA talent in Illinois, but you have to travel to Peoria to find the real heart of hoops in Illinois.
If you cant go to school go to STATE!!

Nice article but it could have mentioned Peoria Central's Back /Back wins and Coach Chuck Buescher and a couple of nice runs by Peoria Richwoods!

Isn't that right behind the lone Super Walmart we just got here in Hicksville, Indiana?

Nice bit, BTW, Peoria won the very first IHSA State Championship.

Also, did y'all know that Peoria hosted the State championship game twice before it was moved here in '96.

I still belly laugh at all the O&B Brass and their arrogant fans who never thought Peoria would get the IHSA Tourney over C/U. And even after shock and denial they still claimed it would go back to C/U after the first contract expired... and after being wrong again... they are still in shock and denial and "know" it will go back to C/U after this contract expires.

              LOL!

Lol. Funny stuff, but I have to say... Aren't we kind of kicking someone who just gave us some love?

                  keep kicking them

While we're talking about some press....today in the car with my dad there was this radio show on asking this question...he had a list of teams about 9 or so and the callers had to say which tournament they have won (NCAA, NIT, or both were the available answers) and Bradley was one of the schools in the questions. Pretty much everyone knew that Bradley won the NIT but there was one caller....the first team listed for him was Bradley (the order changed for every caller) and his immediate response was "who cares" and he lost right then haha...I laughed but deep down I was hoping that was just an SIUC fan or something that is still disgruntled

Well, I'm a Peoria guy, but if I were a gambler I would put money on it returning to C-U in the near future.

Maybe they might split the tournament, and have the 1A and 2A in Peoria, and the 3A and 4A in Champaign?

If they keep them all at the same spot, Peoria will have the advantage.
The Civic Center has a lot more space for the "Experience", and for all the media outlets to hang out. And the Peoria area has a lot more hotels. That's one of the reasons they left Champaign, the hotels gouged people by raising prices through the roof, because the fans had nowhere else to go to find hotels.
