  • There was a lot of highlights and coverage of this game this morning on ESPN. I didn't stay up to watch it, and maybe I am glad I didn't, or I wouldn't have gotten to bed too early.

The ESPN guys pointed out that there was only one game longer in NCAA history, referring quite a few times to the Bradley-Cincinnati game of December, 1981.
They mentioned that in the long history of the NCAA, that there have only been 2 other games that even went 6 overtimes, one in 1953 and the other in 1955. Obviously, all these prior 6 and 7 OT games were before the shot clock, when a team could try to hold the ball for the entire OT for the last shot.
They referred to Johnny Flynn playing 67 minutes, but I never heard a mention of Donald Reese's record of 73 minutes in the BU-Cincy 7-OT game.

    • Wish I could have watched the game but don't know if I would have enjoyed going to work in the morning. heh.

At least, this has people asking who played the longest NCAA game in history and Bradley's name gets mentioned a few times.

          • I am not defending UCONN... I can't stand Boeheim or Calhoun but the Devendorf incident is fresh in my mind...

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

No not a tie, but I was wondering when one team or the other would just kind of "concede" the game since they had been playing for so long. However, seeing how great the Syracuse players felt after winning the game made me change my mind. Nice to see that both teams put everything they could into it, which will help them prepare for the rigors of the NCAA tournament.

                  • I stayed up to watch it...it was enjoyable but the announcers made it nearly unbearable. I usually like Sean McDonough and Bill Raftery. But they had Jay Bilas with them last night.

Memo to announcers: Ok, I get it. A 6 OT game is hard, and can make the players tired. But let's not act like they just fought in battle, marched across the country bare foot, and haven't slept in five days.

After the second OT all McDonough and Bilas could talk about were how tired the players were, running on fumes, pure guts by these guys, tired legs. I mean, say it once or so ok, but not every time.

Plus, these are 20-21 year old kids. They can handle this stuff. Im sure they were tired but they will bounce back fine. There were plenty of breaks and timeouts.

Sometimes the announcers ruin the moment. Why not just let it be great on its own accord?

                    • The refs really let them play...and there was still 93 ft's shot as well as 209 FG's

                      • With the countless replays of Sportscenter, I would say Bradley got about 10,000 mentions, not counting every time it went across the bottom line ticker. Too bad they think that game was played in Indiana.

Me too. First row behind the theater seats. Glad I was watching this game on Mountain Time and Arizona never changes the clocks. Only around 10:30 when it ended here. Flynn proved a lot to me.

Devendork is the poster child for the word "THUG"

I've felt Flynn was a potential superstar when I first saw him last year. Kind of a cross between Isaiah Thomas and Allen Iverson, IMO.
