Northwestern loses to Minnesota-
The Wildcats end 17-12, and 8-10 in the Big Ten, with an RPI in the 70's. Does that end their hopes of finally making the NCAA?
This is their best chance in 70 years to get an NCAA bid....as Northwestern is the only BCS school that's NEVER once been to the NCAA.
Here's what I think will happen...
the NCAA selection committee will realize that if Northwestern is EVER gonna get into the NCAA, it's gonna have to be via a gift because they are just never very good.
This is probably about as close as they'll ever get to deserving it, so the committee will give 'em the nod this year so they won't be the butt of jokes and trivia questions.
They had sorta good chance in the 98-99 season with Eschmeyer as a 6 yr player or something. They were 14-13 overall, 6-10 in B10, RPI of 78 and SOS of 34.
That's what I figured til Redbirdfan21 posted in another thread about ISU playing at G'town.
I'm laughing that the NIT could be setting games in stone already. It's ok if you get a day's head start, but this is frickin' Thursday and you have no idea which bubble teams you'll have access to.

NIT. If they don't blow that 16 point lead at home against Illinois, they are in. A heartbreaking way to blow their NCAA prospects, but they certainly had their chances and did not finish the job. Great season for them anyway, just not quite great enough.
