What I like best about Cleveland St winning is it may knock Creighton out of the big dance. After watching their fan behavior last weekend I hope they never see the big dance again. Security had a full time job just escorting Creighton fans out of the arena. One guy on ESPN had Creighton getting the last slot but I bet they didn't have Bulter losing. NIT has a spot for the Bluejays and I hope an early exit.

      Then you'll like this article-
Butler just killed some bubble team

You want a list of teams that hate Butler right now?

      It would start with Creighton......

Here is another interesting column about Creighton, but it applies to all midmajors and the problems they face trying to get to the NCAA.
Mostly it is whining, because the Creighton followers have developed the entitlement mentality that they deserve to go to the NCAA every year.

          Jason

This is why I have always hated the conference tournaments. Sure, they are exciting and generate a lot of money but they often penalize a good mid-major that has proven their quality and superiority over the course of an entire season.

But, then again, I'm a basketball traditionist who hates the shot clock, loves the four corners offense, could do without the 3-point shot, prefers a jump ball, and would do away with the jump ball /change of posession rule. Oh well.

Cleveland State was picked to win the Horizon this year...they're really good. They had a few inexplicable losses though that set them back. No surprise at all they won last night with the talent they have.

I agree Cleveland State should have won a couple of weeks ago at Butler, they gave that game away late.

I also for one am not at all sad to see Creighton and their fans lose out on an NCAA berth. In '06 everyone got a nice preview of how "inmature and childish" their fans can and do act. If you sat below a box at the top of the BU section you know exactly how the CU fans can and do act.

Not one tear shed for those fans in Omaha.

I agree with Houston in that I like seeing Creighton"s hopes of an ncaa berth going up in smoke, their students treat the Valley tour. like it is some spring break beer bash to which they become completely out of control , several of them were thrown out this year because of their poor behavior, they are a complete disgrace to their university and it makes you wonder how their athletic dept lets them get away with this type of behavior when they are representing Creighton in St.Louis.

I sat in the same row as you that year, I think. It was really one childish kid, who was a special legacy type and a few of his groupies. If I remember his name was like something something the fourth. I remember it being a real snobbish sounding name too. . . (Picked that up when security was talking to him right behind me)

He and his daddy I'm guessing had access to the luxury box behind the BU section. I remember he went to the CU student section and got about a dozen or so of his friends and tried to get them into the box, but security stopped them, which was funny in and of itself.

I remember him chatting "That's alright, that's OK, we're gonna be in the NCAA" and then we beat them. We wished them all a safe trip home.

I know Creighton has some elitist fans that hurts the Valley's image overall, but I would still like to see Creighton in the Big Dance if for no other reason than that multiple bids will help sustain the high expectations that the Valley is used to. Also, Creighton making the dance would most likely keep an additional BCS "pretender" out of the field.

Fans aside, I still believe Creighton did more than enough to show it belongs in the tournament. And despite their poor NCAA record, they still probably would show more heart in the tourney than some of these fringe type teams out of the BCS contingent. So I will definately be rooting for Creighton come Selection Sunday.
