CBI and CI postseason tournaments

I would love for BU to play in a post season tournament, but am not sure if it would really do anything for next years team. I hope the coaches do some things in the off-season to improve next years team. If not, we will be having this same discussion next year.
Does anyone think we really have a chance to win one of these tournaments. This is not last years team. We have one good win on our resume, and we got that at home. All of our other wins came against subpar teams.

Would you just call it a season, and refuse any invitation? Why?
Bradley is a young team. They lose only 1 of their top 5 scorers, and only 1 of their top 5 in minutes played.
They have a lot of young talent returning, plus very good talent joining the team next year. I think additional games this year would benefit the team a lot more than they did last year. From what I have heard, all the players favor playing more games, and all the fans I know agree.

I dont want the season to stop. The offseason is long enough. I would love to see our team again no matter what team is against us. Granted I am a student so tickets are $1 whoever we play, but thats just me.Return to Glory

I don't know Bradley's money situation this year. A lot of business and non-profits and goverments are looking at cutting budgets 5% or more. If that is the case for the athletic director then he would have to decide wether he can work this into the budget or not.
Endowments are down significantly, I would guess donations are down and I suspect BU has to watch costs even in the best of times. If I was Ken Kavanaugh and had to decide between the CBI and laying off 1 employee, I would have a very tough decision to make. When you are the one who has to lay someone off or cut everyones pay you look at things a little differently. Maybe we are not in that situation, I don't know.
Bradleybrave said, the CI is half the cost of the CBI. I am sure that will be a factor for a lot of schools. Maybe even Bradley.
If we can swing it financially, I am all in.
Gotcha. I see where you are coming from. Glad to see that we both agree that more games is a good thing.
As far as the economy is concerned, well let's just say that paying money to play more games should be a great investment for a bright future!

The MVC as well as most conferences that I know of split the revenue from the Tourney. That is why we need to up the ante for every school in the league. You either invest in your program or leave. It is so unfair that schools like ours, CU, WSU put a lot into their programs and when they get into the dance they have to share it with Evansville, InSU and even DU. The chances of DU going above .500 again is daunting! The number of fans that attend the MVC is an indication of the resources that each school puts into their programs. The lack of funds going to the conference also plays into the quality of reffing we have to take!"Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

I expect to see some wild lineups in a CBI or CI.com tournament. TB did have a great game in StL... Needs to work on the defense a bit, but love that potential.

What do we have to lose?Return to Glory

I would love to get some insights on what teams the CBI and CIT are looking at right now. It doesn't take a rocket scientist or even a 'bracketologist' to see what teams surely aren't going to the NCAA's (like BU), or teams that most likely are not going to the NCAA's (Northwestern, Georgetown, Notre Dame, Davidson). The NIT is going to basically be the BCS Invitational Part II (with the NCAA being Part I), so I am guessing that we're going to see the barely .500 BCS teams grouped with a bunch of good, but not quite good enough mids and lows. All I ask this year is that the CBI doesn't lower itself to sub-.500 teams this year. To me, that really made the thing look 2nd rate, even though it's really no different than the NIT aside from its history. Otherwise, I thought it was a well-run tournament.Onward and Upward!

In my latest projections, I had these 32 teams as CBI or CIT teams. Obviously, the actual teams and where they're going is fluid, but this should give a good idea as to the type of caliber team we'd encounter.
It's essentially 3 types of teams:
1) Random BCS teams hovering around 6-10 in conference play
2) 3rd, 4th, 5th place teams out of solid conferences like the WAC, Horizon, and CAA
3) Random top 2 or top 3 teams out of lower conferences (i.e., the Vermonts and UALRs of the world)
Seton Hall (14-14)
North Carolina St (16-12)
St John's (15-15)
Stanford (17-11)
Mississippi (16-13)
Alabama (14-13)
Wyoming (16-11)
St Joseph's (15-14)
LaSalle (17-12)
St Louis (16-12)
Richmond (15-14)
Evansville (15-12)
Bradley (16-13)
UTEP (18-11)
New Mexico St (15-14)
Boise St (18-10)
Cleveland St (19-10)
Wright St (19-12)
Wisconsin-Milwaukee (15-13)
Rider (18-11)
Hofstra (19-10)
Old Dominion (20-9)
Drexel (15-13)
Portland (17-11)
Vermont (23-7)
Troy (18-11)
Arkansas-Little Rock (22-7)
Charleston (22-7)
Buffalo (18-10)
Akron (18-11)
VMI (20-7)
Portland St (18-9)
Just to idly speculate, how does a subregional, of, say:
4) St Louis @ 1) Bradley
3) Akron @ 2) Cleveland St
sound?
