Ben Jacobson who lead UNI to a co-championship of the MVC, and the #1 seed in ther MVC tournament, was named the MVC Coach of the Year today in St. Louis.

Outside of Jank and Marty the COY standings ended up pretty close to the MVC tourney seedings. Probably the way it should be.

I'm sorry...I know Dana is Dana but give me a break! The team was predicted to do amazing this year, and to easily take the valley title...hands down..no competition. They are doing good now but this is what was expected all year...not just the end of the year. Technically they underachieved and he still got 2nd place...Comment

Well Creighton did tie for the MVC title, not 2nd place.
And the fact they were picked to be good should still be a credit to their coach, since he recruited, put the team together, and coached them.
I don't see why that should detract from the credit Altman gets for COY, unless he inherited those players (which is not the case). I would have been OK if he had won COY, but I would have favored Jacobson by a slight margin.Comment

Regardless of what you think or anyone thinks...they are in fact a bubble team. If they do not get to the finals...I don't think they are in. If they do then they may be in...the chances are good, but it's not guaranteed. Which if Dana lived up to his job of 2nd best coach in the valley we wouldn't even be having this discussion...no one would...they'd be in. They have the talent no doubt...they should be in no discussion...but they underachieved and therefore are in the discussion of in or out.Comment
