  • BU's 2006-2007 Schedule

Dave Reynolds has a bit about the schedule.

The Red-White Scrimmage is Oct. 27.
Nov. 1 at the Fieldhouse will be an exhibition game against Winona State.
Nov. 4 is another exhib. at Carver vs. Northwest Missouri State.
(NWMS is the Division II national champs, and Wenona State is led by former Johnsburg High School star and former BU recruit, John Smith.)

Bradley's regular-season opener is at home Nov. 11 vs. DePaul.
Nov. 15- will be a nonconference HOME game to be announced.

Then a four game tournament, the Chicagoland Tournament,
starts Nov. 19 with a home game against Ill-Chicago, and then a home game against FAMU.
Then the tourney moves to the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates with games vs. Rutgers and an opponent to be determined (could possibly be Illinois.)

    Nov. 29 at Tenn. Tech
Dec. 2 a road game yet to be determined
Dec. 5 home against Wright State
Dec. 16 a neutral site game against Iowa State at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines
    Dec. 19 home vs. Loyola
Dec. 23 home against Southern Miss.
MVC games start Dec. 27 or 28 with Bracket Buster Feb. 17, opponent to be determined.

Looks like some of us might get our wish for another big name opponent, albeit a road one.

I think that's a typo on T's part. It is Larry Eustachy's Southern Miss Golden Eagles who'll be visiting Carver Arena that Saturday.

            Just wondering.
The release of a team's schedule is actually a pretty big event,
given the lack of much else going on in mid-July.
Even the release of other schools' schedules has been worth noting on the boards.

So then why was the story about BU's schedule kinda buried in
a column behind a story about a summer basketball camp for kids?
Honestly, I failed to even see it in this morning's paper until I
saw the discussion going on the board.
And I suspect I am not the only one as there isn't even a hint
of any discussion about the release of the schedule on the
            other board even now.

This wasn't the official release of the schedule, just an update on what is booked and what is still open. As DR said, the official release of the schedule will be coming up in the next month or so. I am sure if BU lands a big name BCS school for it's final open road game of the non-con, it will be front page news. Actually, no matter who they land it will be front page news.

Tks for the link T. I liked this from the article:

"Among Bradley???‚¬?„?s schedule highlights to date: the possibility of a Carver Arena record 16-game regular-season home schedule, a home game versus Big East member and in-state rival DePaul;"

WOW! We have a rival with a BigBeast team. And we are currently 'up' on them. More from the article:

"The Braves have won three straight in the series at Carver Arena and will be trying for three straight wins overall against DePaul ....."

What's sad is that we're 1 bad half away from having at least 4 straight over them, and I think 5 if we go back to the @sswhooping we gave them before the long hiatus in the series.

It's a nice opening game for the Braves, but moving forward, I wouldn't mind seeing this placed right in the middle of our respective conference schedules. It would be a nice change of pace from the conference season, and we'd see both teams in the middle of the most intense part of the schedule. I think the rivalry would become even bigger and more heated. Just a thought.

It appears Bradley has settled the open November 15 home date.
At least it's not an NAIA team, but would have liked to see a slightly better opponent.

It will be a homecoming for their new assistant coach, Ben Wierzba.

                          Just great.....

Doesn't look to be an exhibition.

We are gonna be pretty rough around the edges next season... enough that we are scheduling non-DI opponents for regular season games.

Well, I suppose it IS better than bringing in Texas Southern or Tex-Pan American to kill the RPI. Oh wait a sec... we didn't play those guys last year.

BU can (and should) do better than to schedule a team that was part of an exhibition game just a few seasons ago.

SIUI-E was on BU's schedule last year, as an exhibition

We also played them in 2003-2004, on 11/13/03 as an exhibition.
