I am actually surprised and stunned by this final.

Someone said UNI has the tiebreaker over Creighton - is that right? If both win Saturday, and finish tied, UNI will be the #1 seed?

Even before tonight, UNI would have had it.

The motive of my blog / website is to provide a different perspective than what is generally found on the Internet these days. I'm not affiliated with any newspaper, so I can have the ability to choose the subjects I consider the highest priority. This site also isn't a message board, so everything will be a bit more structured and regulated.

I think UNI and CU have identical losses except for one, and UNI's loss is to Ind. St. I think Creighton's maybe to Ill. State so that means UNI gets more tiebreaker points for beating Ill. St. twice.

Jerry Palm has updated his RPI site at collegerpi.com.

              45 Creighton (13-4)
              74 UNI (13-4)
              64 ISU (11-6)

MVC fans wanting to see multiple bids from the MVC would be rooting for Creighton to win this weekend (and then them losing in the Conf Tourney).

Creighton loses to BU in the final, giving the league 2 bids. A man can dream can't he?

To feel comfortable, Creighton needs the 1 seed and 2 impressive tourney wins. Throttling ISU would really help - it's statement game time.

I think Creighton must beat ISU and then get to the championship game to get in the NCAA tourney. That means they will play BU in the championship game and lose! If they are the 2nd seed and BU is 4th doesn't that mean that the only place we would play them would be in the championship game? We would need to beat WSU (probably 4-5 game) and then UNI in the second round. I don't think that is a stretch.

If Creighton beats ISU, they could still become the #1 or #2 seed. IIRC, if UNI loses, and Creighton wins, Creighton takes the #1 seed. Which I don't want to see happen -- because then we can't take them out in the finals (will have to be in the semi's!) and then they have no at-large chance!

Yea - that's dreamable. And with UNI being the #1 seed and losing in the Conf Tourney and not having a strong profile for an NCAA bid... they will have the Auto Nit bid. And I think ISU gets an NIT bid. That would be 2 NCAA and 2 NIT. That's dreamable.

A UNI win, and they are the #1 seed. They win all tiebreakers in the event of a 2 way or 3 way tie.

Creighton might be better served getting the 2 seed and beating ISU in the semis.

The real bad news: If Creighton gets the 1 seed, the entire conference will want us to lay an egg in order to help Creighton. Them losing to us will dent their hopes.

Creighton should root for the 2 seed. The committee is smart enough to see the tie at the top of the standings, and an ISU win carries more value.

--this loss knocks ISU out of contention for the Valley Championship, and only a few weeks ago there was talk of an undefeated season.

--Kwadzo Alhelegbe is obviously hurt, but very little is being said about it.
He was in pain and grabbing his back in the first half and then didn't play much at all down the stretch. He came out with 8 minutes in regulation, then never re-entered, not even in the overtimes.
Rumors on the UNI board that it is his back...he was also said to be having back spasms in the game last week vs. Drake.

Kerwin Dunham also played less than four minutes after halftime, so there are also questions if he is injured.

--there was an incident near the end of the 1st overtime when UNI head coach was angry and shoved a referee.
He got a technical earlier in the game but not for this incident, and none of the press reports talk about the incident at all!
here's a discussion about the incident...

--ISU coach Tim Jankovich's post game comments kinda sound like he's whining about the refs...
                              "On his post game show...
"Koch played good, he plays very unorthodoxly and gets the calls when he
drives into people. At one point I asked the refs how the foul can be on us
                              when he drives into us."
You forgot to mention the fact that there were 2,000 empty seats for Senior Night against the 1st-place team!
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12
