Senior-to-be Maurice Blakey has transferred to Kentucky Wesleyan. Because KWU is Div II, he will be eligible to play next year. Blakey was a reserve 6'0" guard who played in 28 games for Steve Merfeld.

Maurice Blakey will apparently then be a teammate of Rodney Edgerson who also is transferring to Kentucky Wesleyan for next season.
Blakey was originally from Louisville, but attended junior college at Lincoln Trail Junior College, Robinson, IL.
He will only have one season left and is another in a long line of recruited players who have left Evansville with eligibility remaining. Now there are at least SIX in the past year and a half.
Here is an interesting timeline for head coach Steve Merfeld at Evansville:
11/30/04-three very promising young players, freshmen guards Dupree Fletcher and Marcus Butler and sophomore guard Robert Nelson have been dismissed from the team because of legal issues surrounding campus break-ins.
2/23/05-Merf gets a contract extension thru 2009 despite some losing years so far, and a combined 30-52 record.
5/2/05-one of Merfeld's former players busted for drugs.
9/27/05-6'9" freshman Wacey Hall quits.
9/27/05: assistant coach Keith Noftz resigns for personal reasons.
10/20/05-Farmington native Rhet Wierzba is hired as assistant.
10/27/05-another promising young Evansville player, Tory Robertson quits after a run-in with Merf. -

Why would Rhet want the South Alabama job? He went to Austin Peay.
