  • Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski thinks the ACC and Big East should get 16 teams in the NCAA tournament

Duke coachMike Krzyzewski says the Big East and ACC should get as many as 16 bids (8 teams from each league) between them for the NCAA tournament.

He may be doing a bit of lobbying, but I believe this may happen, though right now only 6 teams from the Big East and 5 from the ACC appear to be clear-cut tournament teams. Putting teams into the tournament with 10-12 losses would be a bit of a stretch.

It's not unreasonable to think that. Probably not more than 16 though. I'd say ACC 7 and BE 9 as of today.

Coach K shouldn't be campaigning for it, in either case. He needs to leave that subject alone.

They can have one bracket all to themselves.

I like your way of thinking!
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

Eventually they will have their own tournament. Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, Pac10 and Memphis and a few and I mean one or two Gonzaga or Butler or whoever is the flavor of that year for one big BCS only tourney.

It has gotten to the point where the 64 teams is mostly BCS only and if you are a non BCS you have to be perfect and even sometimes perfect isnt good enough.

I think you have a good idea there.

Just put every Big East school and every ACC school in the tournament, and eliminate all other automatic bids. Make every other slot an at-large slot, and fill them with SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, and Pac-10 teams.

But if he doesn't lobby for the ACC...who will?????
Gloria: Who's side are you on?
Jay: She's my daughter, you're my wife. Let's remember what's important, there's a football game on today

                Really????

Here are just a few who have no problem lobbying for the ACC... ESPN, Dick Vital, Jay Bilas, Andy Katz, Billy Packer, CBS, Hubert Davis, FOX College. Those are just a few who have access to microphones and TV cameras.... the ACC gets plenty of love and lobbying.

I think the sarcasm meter was pegged on this post.

That's why it's important that the NCAA tournament keeps the autobid for each conference. Otherwise you wouldn't even have the 25 non-BCS teams in each tournament. Hopefully there will always be at least five or more at-large bids coming out of the non-BCS conferences. But who knows how long that will last.
