  • D.J. Richardson

Rivals.com has a new article Monday titled "D.J. Richardson- Peoria's Next Big Thing". He is a 6'3" guard.

Bradley has been recruiting Richardson, who just finished his freshman season at Peoria Central. However, he is starting to stand out at AAU events this summer and is getting recruiting attention from many major schools. This article may require a password--

Here is a clip from the article--
Currently, Richardson states he is hearing from Florida, Michigan State, Illinois, Purdue, Baylor (offered), Indiana, DePaul, and Bradley. Although many of the schools are Big Ten schools, when conference affiliation was brought, two conferences came to the forefront, the ACC and the Big East. "I like the ACC because they always seem to have a game on ESPN. It is the same way with the Big East."

Here is a link to a video clip of D.J. that was posted in an earlier thread.--

DJ doesn't seem to have much to go with him at Central.
If his team ends under .500 again this season, would anyone be surprised if DJ ends up at RHS or somewhere else?

Again, the heck with any actualy thinking on this topic, or God-forbid, any loyalty.
the only loyalty this statement speaks for is loyalty to himself
      "I wanna be on TV!!"

I would be very surprised to see him at Richwoods. This kid is
getting groomed by AJ Guyton. Not many kids get groomed by a professional for free. If he leaves Central, he might as well kiss AJ goodbye.

          collegehoopjunkie,

As the person who wrote the story, you have D.J. pegged all wrong. I asked him if he has a favorite conference, as that is a standard question I asked, and he said those two. Does that mean it will play a huge role in his list of schools? No. Proof of that, his top three right now are Florida, Michigan State and Illinois. None of them are ACC/Big East schools.

            Freshjive, thanks for your insight.
I think we have all seen way too many of the top recruits literally making a circus out of their recruitment, with their egos.
I agree, that most of what I've heard about DJ and many of the locals (like Bill Cole, Jamar Smith) is that they really are down to earth kids who have for the most part chosen their long held favorite school to play at.

DJ Richardson just picked up a scholarship offer from University of Illinois while he was attending the Midnight Madness at Champaign this weekend.
He also has offers from Bradley, Indiana, and Baylor.

I am still very happy to see BU in on these kids.
Who knows, with Chuck Buescher's connections, we may get him.
Unlike the Illini, it's nice to have assistants that can lock up the instate talent.
