Tornado, I agree with all of your thoughts - I myself was hoping to see Bill Cole get a chance with the team struggling so badly to score, and I also didn't understand the lack of substitutions down the stretch - the Illini clearly weren't getting any motion offensively, so why not rip a guy off the bench and send him in with a purpose?
That said, I think Weber has done a great job overall this season, but games like this are so frustrating to watch. Illinois will really need to get things sorted out to have a chance at Ohio State this weekend.

Bill Cole is a very skilled player. Anyone who has seen him play in HS will tell you that. Every player has to find the right team, coach, and system to utilize their skills.
Cole hasn't played in some of Illinois' blowouts, so it shouldn't be a surprise that he didn't play last night in a game that was close all the way.
He just needs to find the right situation, and he'll play and be successful. I don't think Illinois is that situation, but maybe he does think so.
Remember, he had other big time offers in addition to Illinois, and would have had many more if he had not been committed to U of I very early.

For the kids sake hopefully he starts to play at Illinois or he transfers somewhere where he can. Or he can get his degree from U of I and move on. No shame in that.

Do you think Depaul and Wisconsin are big time offers?

The Illinois coaches want him to play the 5, and Bill is not and never will be a 5. Tisdale has made a nice transition to the 5 at the Big Ten level, but Bill's body is different. I think he could be an effective 3 or 4, but Illinois is already loaded there too. The coaches at Illinois didn't think Kyle Wilson would ever be any good, but he turned out to be good enough to be All MVC and help lead his team to the Sweet 16.

I agree with you T on all thoughts other than Cole.
I didn't get to see it all but I saw maybe 25-30 minutes off and on.
Why Legion didn't play more than 4 minutes is beyond me. I know his defense is suspect and shooting has been inconsistent but he does have a scoring mentality and Illinois needed that last night.
I saw Illinois go inside to Tisdale once in the second half and he scored pretty easy but they never did it again.
And who was it the said the the BT refs gave all the breaks to the home team.....ZERO ft's...that is hard to believe

About Legion....couldn't agree more. Can't shoot, yet he keeps trying.
Btw, have you checked your U's own website address - your U differentiates it.
