    Isn't Bradley 14-12 now?

This only counts In-The-Eyes-of-the-NCAA wins. SO... it doesn't include provisional D-I SIU-e.

So... ISU plays WSU, UNI, and @ Creighton.

And... BU plays MSU, @ Evansville, and Drake.

If they go 1-2 and we go 3-0... they still win the tie breaker most likely, right? But if they go 0-3 and we go 3-0, we take over the #3? (Clearly not likely. Eve though WSU is kinda "hot" right now.)

jeffsu is correct. Only D-I games are counted.

I'd make the argument that only the NCAA selection committee is really looking at that. Since we're not fighting for an at-large bid, I think the 14th win could be considered a little more valid. I don't know if the CBI/NIT/Barnum & Bailey circus tournaments care about this ... but they might?

If we get 3rd place do you think we get in the NIT? What about 4th place do we get it if 2 MVC teams get into the NCAA....?

The NIT is definitely my goal for the season. That'd be vastly overachieving IMO. I don't want to watch the CBI again...just be too depressing. It's fun watching basketball but there would always be this thing in the back of my head...we just did this last year. It would seem old already.

We have little chance at the NIT. If we won out from here and went all the way to Sunday maybe, but I still don't think we'd get the nod. We'd be 20-13, but only 19-13 against DI and our RPI wouldn't be that high. We'd be NIT bubble. Any more losses and I think it's CBI/CollegeInsider.com for us.

Fourth place with a 17-13 or 18-12 record would still put us on the NIT bubble. In other years I think that would have been more than enough for a home NIT game, but with only three really strong teams in the conference this year, I'm not sure fourth place gets us in. Even if it does, it will probably result in a 1st round road game though.

The other factor will be our RPI. If we win out to go to 18-12, we will be doing it against teams with mediocre RPI's, though two road wins will help boost it up a bit. I think our RPI will actually go down even if we beat MSU tomorrow night!

What will help our cause though will be a strong showing by the Valley in the Bracketbuster. 8-2 or even 7-3 will help boost everyone's RPI a bit, and that could be the difference between the NIT or CBI.

Does it help us any that Loyola beat Butler yesterday at Butler?

I think it's a wash. Our RPI might have dropped at tad with Butler losing, but it won't drop as much when we play Loyola since their RPI went up. Not that either factor will make much difference.

I wasn't sure if the NIT Selection Committee or whatever would see this game as a little bit better of a win (of course I'm counting on a win when we go up there) for us if we were to finish out the conference season 3-0 since they were able to knock off Butler yesterday at Butler when we couldn't beat Butler at home. I guess the difference in RPI still makes it a non-factor, unless we don't take care of business up there.

You got to see your team for x more games then expected. You got Ruffin, Crouch, and crew a few more games in college... you got your young players a chance to play in the "post season"... what were the negatives? Do/did most posters/fans agree that it was good to do, and would want to do it again if the chance arises this year? Did BU make or lost money? I hear you have to guarantee some $$ to the CBI or NCAA to host games... just curious... i didn't follow the board much when you guys were playing in it
Financials aside, I don't think there were too many negatives to playing in the CBI. We got 3 more home games, we got to play BCS teams, we got to play on a national TV outlet (Fox College Sports), and we got experience for guys that were going to matter the following season. I look at it no differently this year. A couple more home games, hopefully some name competition, hopefully some TV, and a lot of minutes for guys like McCain, Norris, Brown, and ESPECIALLY Anthony Thompson. I'm fine with it being the CBI again as long as there are no sub-.500 teams this year, and I am fine with the CollegeInsider.com tournament, as they have said they are requiring a winning record against DI opponents.

I think some people last year just wanted the season to end since it was such a disappointment, and I can see where they were coming from. There were times when I thought that way too. But I think in the end it was worth it program-wise.

Loyola is still 5-11 in a league that is inferior to the Valley, so I don't think that their win yesterday is going to make much of a difference in the big picture as far as what a win there would mean to BU.
It's basically a "no win situation" game for BU. It's just a game that you have to win because you simply shouldn't lose to a team with an RPI around 200. The win won't help our RPI, it will hurt our SOS, and doesn't really help much with any NIT consideration.

I think everybody has a different opinion about the CBI. I think it turned out to be good for the program, but I wouldn't want Bradley to play in it again the following year.

The CBI helped salvage a dissappointing year for BU. The 3 game series against Tulsa was interesting in my opinion. Andrew Warren got to return to play, the seniors got some extra games and Collins played significant minutes for the first time.

The first two home game only got about 5-6k, so there wasn't that much interest in the overall fan base. I think the last home game got around 9k.

Financially, I think BU did alright since they played in six games. If they were one and done, it would have been a losing proposition.
