I dont mind giving up some back door layups to teams as long as you are creating havoc with your aggressive play.

I like that BU plays aggressive on the ball and in the passing lanes. Its a "risk/reward" thing. If BU had a better shot blocker in there the backdoor cuts wouldnt be as noticeable. I like the way BU plays defense in the halfcourt most of the time.

I hear ya on Warren--he will help. He does play the one position BU has some offensive depth. Egolf, I'm not so sure. He has played about 100 significant basketball minutes since he graduated from high school. He is a major question mark.

Imho, from what I have seen of Egolf this year, a healthy Will Egolf is a major match up problem for other teams in the MVC.

Im sure someone will label me a "Egolf hater" but, man, he has hardly played. Here is his game log for this season.

UIC, DNP-Coaches decision
Florida, 3 minutes, no stas
UMKC, 8 minutes, 1-1, 2 rebs, 2 pts, 1 to
Florida Gulf Coast, 19 minutes, 8 pts, 5 rebs, 2 blocks
Richmond, 19 minutes, 6 points, 1 rebounds, 2 to, block
East Tennessee State, 20 minutes, 6 points, 2 rebounds, 3 to, block

He was averaging basically 4 points and less than 2 rebounds per game on the season--this after hardly playing at all as a freshman. Calling him a "major match up problem" seems to be a bit of a stretch.

I just hope he gets healthy and can give BU a decent 15-20 minutes next year. That is about as good as we can hope I think.

OMG, how many times have we been through this. Obviously the numbers say nothing, but he was just beginning to assert himself as a solid center. If you saw the last three games he played, you saw moves that we have not seen out of a Bradley big man in quite some time. Remember how DC wasn't even playing until WE got injured? Les knew Egolf was the real deal, and clearly was better than Collins and still has huge upside. But it would be ignorant to just look at the averages when he barely played the first few games and when he was just starting to work himself into the lineup.

Acutally Collins has started all but two games. Egolf only started playing when the staff thought Collings couldn't get it done. Egolf played 11 minutes the first three games of the year then scored 8 points versus a FGCU team that is just barely a full D1 program.

Will Egolf has more DNP-Coaches Decision than he does actual games played in his career.

I wish Will well. But to act like he would be a stud big man in the MVC just seems quite a bit premature. I hope for 15-20 minutes out of Will. Anything else will be gravy.

It's all about sample size...Cole-Scott was a lock 1st team Valley player after his St. Ambrose performance last year, too. How'd that work out?

Egolf showed some progress in the 3 games he started, he showed that he had more upside than Collins, but can you really start making assumptions that he is 'the unquestioned answer' based on that limited body of work? 3 games against FGCU, Richmond, and ETSU? I don't think it would be wise to jump to that conclusion...better teams with better big men were coming later on the schedule, and teams would have made adjustments to his game the more time he saw...I think there would have been many speed bumps along the way for Will on his way toward being an established starter for this team...

We'll have to hope you are right...because he may be the only option we have that is ready to play in the post next year...

The stats from Egolf do not lie, but the attitude and aggressiveness of our team when we had Egolf on the floor was a complete 180 from what it was when he was not getting minutes.

If Egolf would not have gotten hurt, I really think this team would have been completely different in how it was able to approach basketball games this season. He gave the offense a completely different option, a big who could score from the wing, an athletic jumper, a guy who can put it on the floor and a person who could pass on either the move or from the block. Just a much better overall player then Collins and I think the way this team responded with Egolf was a big indication of the trust it had with him on the court.

I like Egolf..... however............HE STILL HAS A LOT TO PROVE!

I am not sure he will even be a starter next year..... or even by year's end. I hope he proves me wrong and comes back with a major chip on his shoulder. He'd better be working on that 3-point shot while he's re-habbing

I think Bradley did look much better when Will started getting some minutes. He seemed to actually know what he was doing out there. Plus, he hit those clutch free throws to ice the second game of the tournament. I think one of Bradley's best overall game came against Richmond (12-13, 4-6 A10) when he was starting to turn the corner.

I don't think he will cause major matchup problems, but a healthy Egolf improves BU's weakest link.

Honestly I think it takes quite a bit for Les to become confident in a bigman. I also think it took Les losing confidence in Collins to begin to give more minutes to Les. Les looked like he wanted Collins to succeed or duplicate his work in the CBI, when it became apparent that Collins was not giving out put like he did in the CBI, I think JL went to Egolf.

Regardless, I do believe a healthy Egolf would have made a difference to BU this season. Just an opinion but the energy level and production of our team when Egolf began to play versus when Collins was getting most of the minutes earlier in the season was substancial and I personally believe Egolf's teammates had more confidence in him as a player then in Collins.

True, but also against E. Tenn. St. (a respectable 17-8, 11-4 Atlantic Sun). When he was on the floor, we played better than we have all season on offense and defense.
