Yeah, that was a bad one.

This is why I have contended all along that BU needes to leave the MVC. The caliber of game officiating is the worst in the nation. Any conference we end up in would give us a better game to watch. We would not have to worry about some of the mystery calls we see both at home and on the road...

I didn't think the officiating yesterday was biased or favored either team, but there were a number of questionable calls, especially the usual several botched charge/block calls. I watch a lot of games, and nowhere else but the MVC do you ever see the charge foul called on plays where the offensive player gets to the basket with his athleticism and skill, scores, and has the basket nullified because an unathletic guard, who wasn't even trying to play defense, slides under the shooter, and flops onto his butt as the shooter comes down from the shot.
I wish the MVC would clean up these horrible faux charge fouls.

Originally posted by tornadoThe three refs who did yesterday's BU game are not guys who do a lot of MVC games......I actually did NOT recognize any of them except the 3rd guy who was vaguely familiar from past years, and here's why..
two of them have never done a single Bradley game in the past 13 seasons......
-David Maracich has done only two MVC games this season and yesterday was the only BU game.
In checking his numbers all the way back to 1996, this is the very first Bradley game he's ever done!!!
In fact, this is the first season he has ever done a single Valley game!
-Sean Casey has done ONLY two Valley conference games, and 3 other non-conference games involving a Valley team. This is the first game he's done involving Bradley.
In fact, in the past 12 seasons, he has never done a game involving Bradley!
-David Warfel has done only 7 games involving MVC teams and only 4 conference games.
This was his 2nd game involving BU (East Tennessee State) this season but he's only done a dozen Bradley games since 1996.
Interesting, though, going all the way back to 1996, he has never reffed a single game that didn't involve at least one Valley team...in other words, he ONLY does Valley games.
That blows the smitereens out of the opinion and claims by some that there is NO such thing as a Valley ref!!!

Officiating is an important aspect of the game and it does impact the overall quality of our league.
leebiddlecome I'm not sure what you are getting at
I think it's games like last Saturday, when the MVC is looking to get the better officials for the "bigger" games... and I'm sure the Creighton/SIU game got sent the better crew.
But don't misunderstand me. I look at every game Bradley plays as a big game. Every single one of them. This is D1 hoops... every team better take that approach for each game or sometimes you see a Loyola win at Butler or an Indiana St win at UNI.
