  • Valley Point Total

It's getting to that point in the season when valley point totals help break tiebreakers using the 20 for road win against 1st place, 19 for a home.etc Does anybody have the current point standings?

Bump...anyone have updated point totals? They should be taking form now with only a few league games left.

Here's what I come up with...there could be big changes though as so many teams are so close in the standings that the standings may change significantly over the final few games. Evansville and SIU look to be in bad tiebreaker shape. Wichita State is golden if it comes to points, as are the Sycamores. A Drake win tonight puts them in a good position as well. If UNI and Creighton tie at 14-4 (with UNI losing to ISU), and the rest of the league standings stay as is, I have UNI winning the tiebreaker over Creighton by just 1 point. Thus any change at all in the current standings could totally change that. We likely lose a tiebreaker for 3rd with ISU. Possible points remaining are in parenthesis.

      Northern Iowa - 108 (34)
      Creighton - 97 (28 )
      Illinois State - 74 (56)
      Bradley - 63 (20)
      Wichita State - 74 (25)
      Evansville - 39 (51)
      Drake - 52 (54)
      Southern Illinois - 43 (22)
      Indiana State - 60 (21)
      Missouri State - 29 (36)

        Thanks Tulsa.

You need to start a new thread and keep us all up to date.

          Bump.

The Trees are looking good in Carbondale, and WSU is right in the game in Normal. What has to happen for us to win the tiebreaker with ISU for 3rd?

If Illinois State wins again, we can't win the tiebreaker I don't think. If we win at UE and lose at home to Drake and we both finish 10-8, then we MIGHT win the tiebreaker. Our best shot at 3rd is winning out, with them losing out. I don't want 3rd unless Creighton gets 1st.

Creighton will be 1st. UNI is losing at home to Drake, and will lose to ISU. Their legs are getting tired, and they haven't shot exceptionally well since their miracle in Peoria. Looks like a date with Dana on Saturday. That really sucks.

I'd rather face them on Saturday than in the championship game. They probably won't lose to someone else before then like everyone wants. There's no shot at an at-large, so we have to win out obviously. So, it won't matter in terms of one more win or something. I actually like that scenario.

Creighton has a shot at an at-large. They have a good shot. If they win the league outright (which would mean they win their last 2 league games), and win their BracketBuster, they will have won 10 straight and 11 of 12 heading into the MVC Tournament. They also would have the marquee wins (New Mexico, Dayton, St. Joe's) to make a very strong case. They also have the name recognition. I think Creighton is an at-large lock if they make Sunday and the above scenario holds true. A Saturday loss for them might mean bubble-burst, and I don't see Dana letting that happen against a team like BU.

Actually if I had to pick out of those 3 teams...it's more like CU holds their own destiny for the 1 seed. There's no reason why they should lose to you in Omaha, and they are already in first place.

You guys are relying on CU's destiny....

In the last 4 years, ISU has won in Omaha TWICE.

You may be correct that they have no reason to lose to us in Omaha, but it has happened before (last year).

You wanna crown their arses, THEN CROWN 'EM!

Good luck to your Birds fellas... but sorry, I am rooting for Creighton cause I think they could have a better At-Large Portfolio than ISU.

No problem MacabreMob. I wouldn't expect many (if any) BU guys to root for ISU to win the conference title.
