I think the "style of play" is grossly exagerated unless your DII Grinnel.

BU looked to get the ball inside..take three's when available......drive, slash draw fouls.....push the ball when they could...MUCH like CU did. Only thing is CU has better bigs...better shooters and a deeper team and play better defense. That and they don't or at least they didn't turn the ball over as much.

BU's system is fine.....we need better players to run the system...PERIOD.

Can we please, please stop referring to Warren and Egolf as our "top two players". This is a completely unsupportable opinion.
Warren was our top returning scorer...so if you want to say he is our best player, I wouldn't have a problem with that. However, Will Egolf was never, ever anywhere near one of the top two players on this team...He had a few encouraging outings before his injury, and he certainly showed promise as being the best of the uninspiring options we had at the 5 spot. But, to say he was the 2nd best player on this team means that you are saying he is more valuable to this team than Theron Wilson...really??? No chance. And more valuable than Sam Maniscalco??? Nope.
He was the 9th or 10th best option on this team coming into the year, and once he started contributing, he maybe became the 4th or 5th best option on this team...but to say he along with Warren were the two best players on the team is simply not true.

That being said, it is tiresome to be in the middle of the pack every year and some kind of change in methodology needs to take place, because whatever we're doing right now doesn't look like it'll get us over the hump.

That being said though, we've had injury excuses EVERY year - is this extraordinarily bad luck or are we supposed to be handling this better?

God I'm wishy washy. There's a legitimate excuse as to why we're not better, but it's the same excuse we've had the past couple years. Can we just get through one year with our roster intact?

        I couldn't agree more......

Agreed on Egolf. His legend grows with every day. I hope the kid eventually contributes but he has scored like 50 points in his entire Bradley career. He got a DNP-Coaches Decision the first game of the year then played 11 minutes the next two.

He might have a decent future but it will be tough for him.

I think Les knows exactly what he wants. An up-tempo quickness-focused attack with a crazy pressure man defense (not sure this one works). For the seasons after POB left, the attack was fine because we had a pile of guys who could shoot the heck out of the ball. This year we have basically one guy (SM) and a couple of new guys who just don't have their legs under them (DN and CR) consistently. This team would look much much different with Andrew Warren and TW acting as the 3rd scoring threat instead of the 1st or 2nd.

Also, Les isn't exactly guilty of 4 guards and a 4 at center. One of the complaints is that we keep giving minutes to the one guy we have on the roster who is a traditional back-to-the-basket 7 foot 5. I'll grant you he definitely is going to run 3 guards out there, but he's not guilty of playing undersized at the 5. TW at the 4 is undersized, but he's not a guard by style of play or skill-set. If he was 6'8 or 6'9 he'd also be a potential NBA player and probably not a JUCO transfer into BU.

Your not going to find many teams winning when their 2 big man get as many fouls on average as points scored for the game.

We have a number of big men that will be on our roster for the next few years in AT, Elgolf, Milos, and Prosser. I would be astonished if we didn't change our style of play to suit their games.
I don't know how to select parts of a post so not certain who is the pie in the sky. JL will never have two guys on the floor at the same time over 6'6" won't happen, forget it, out of the question, don't think about it. Prosser and Milos won't see the floor until late 2011 or 2012 anyhow. Book it...

I know what you're trying to say, and I disagree. I think you'll see plenty of WE (and AT if he can get it together) and JP/MK/TB on the floor at the same time next year... And not to nitpick, but haven't we already seen a fair amount of TB and DC/SS on the floor this year?
